Which version of Eclipse are you using and does that matter?

I've been having a fit working with compiling my Android app, so I looked at my version. In the Help > About section. Using the tutorials I found online, I downloaded version 3.7.1, which may have been the most current at that time. I think they're up to version 4.1.1 Do you think it will help any to have a more current version of Eclipse? What version are you using? Just out of curiosity, it's been a real hassle learning Eclipse, and I haven't even actually compiled my Android app yet. It seems to me that XCode is a little more intuitive, once you follow a step by step process. Does anyone else feel that way?? Does anyone have a good primer on Eclipse that they prefer over the others?

I've struggled a bit with both, but far more with Eclipse...so much so that I deleted my installation and am just getting back to it. It seems to me to be way, way more frustrating than Xcode, but that might be because of the open source nature of it all. As with Xcode, once you get a good procedure down, it seems to work pretty well. But getting it running seemed way more difficult than it was worth. I spent a lot of time at this site : http://www.talkandroid.com/android-sdk-install-guide/. And I downloaded and installed whatever happened to be the release build at the time. It doesn't really make a difference...only the APIs you download are of concern. Mark

Actually got Eclipse to work on my mac, snow leopard 10.6 as well. I just followed the directions from the video, using Galileo for Java Devs. I had trouble in the beginning but it went over smoothly the second time I tried installing. Just make sure you have all the necessary files, for me it was upgrading my mac, downloading JDK, Eclipse, ADT plugin, and finally the SDK's through Eclipse's Android SDK Manager. Also, go over to the help menu and Check for Updates in Eclipse because that solved some of my problems as well.
