Video App Store Rules ?

Hi, working on an app with tons of streaming video screens...wondering for App Store approval if i will just need to say requires a wifi connection to get around the rules below: Warning: iOS apps submitted for distribution in the App Store must conform to these requirements. If your app delivers video over cellular networks, and the video exceeds either 10 minutes duration or 5 MB of data in a five minute period, you are required to use HTTP Live Streaming. (Progressive download may be used for smaller clips.) If your app uses HTTP Live Streaming over cellular networks, you are required to provide at least one stream at 64 Kbps or lower bandwidth (the low-bandwidth stream may be audio-only or audio with a still image). These requirements apply to iOS apps submitted for distribution in the App Store for use on Apple products. Non-compliant apps may be rejected or removed, at the discretion of Apple. Thanks for any thoughts!!

Hey stranger! I've seen this rule a bunch but have never seen it used for / against anyone. Although your idea of mentioning WiFi is needed to run the app does make sense. Not sure anyone would want to watch 'heavy' videos anyway? get your own control panel running yet? 2.0.7 just released.

Hi David! no i haven't gotten my own control panel up yet, hopefully gonna dig into this weekend!! my wife has been dealing with some serious heath issues so we have been consumed in research and treatment and surgeries for her..finally getting some positive news and i can get my head back into my favorite hobby/obsession BT!! i was wondering how apple will check the almost 100 videos the app will have in it...using the Streaming Video screens it is considered a progressive download correct? Did tons of research on video compression and have really nice looking small mp4 video files to work with, most only around 3mb, and play on all IOS and Android devices (even look good on large devices) Thanks as always and hope all is well!!

I doubt Apple will actually watch the videos. Funny to think how long that would take. The reviewer will likely browse what you've done then make a judgement based on a first-impression kinda thing. Any tips for us on how you did the compression. We've been trying to nail down a video format that works on both platforms for very long time and never have totally understood all the differences between mov, mp4, etc. iOS and Android video file on same device is key!
