testing apk on android device

I've only just discovered this, it's pretty cool. Apologies if it's common knowledge. just email your apk file in an attachment to the googlemail registered with your android device, open the email on your device and it's got an install button for the app! Cool.

FredT4 Just attach the .APK file to the registered email address of the phone or tablet.... That's it... Then just open it on the device in google email. Click on the APK file and it will install. Or are you looking for steps on how to create the APK itself?

alternatively save your compiled apk's in your dropbox folder, then using the android dropbox app (free) access and download your apk's via dropbox (plus they're all kept together safe and secure from PC crashes etc :)

Creating the apk, tried to do just that last week ran into some terminology I was uncertain about, so I backed off.

Ok, I exported the file to my desktop, I had created my key ? (what's the correct terminology) last week, and easy as pie, there's a file xxx.apk on my desktop. Now I'm uploading to dropbox and will install. I've already checked allow 3rd party installation. So let's se what happens. :-)

Ok, two problems, 1st the app didn't allow install to sd card, and 2nd the app is only showing the home screens (using the tab layout). The app is 9.44 MB, V1.5 Andriod. Any suggestions?

The install to the SD card is the way it is I'm thinking. I think the App has to allow itself to be installed to the SD card with some specific code... Home screens only? Did you have a splash screen at all? I'm not sure what you mean by home screens. Are you saying you have no screens below that level?

I updated the app from BT by resorting the items on one screen, restarted the app and it updated and now all the screens are there. Now on to sdk card issue.

Holy moly - this is easy to do! Thank you for this! I know this is off topic, but is there a way to do this to test an iOS app on an iPod (or iPhone or iPad)?
