Apparently it's easy to do, just need to change something on the manifest to auto or perferExternal. Now need to figure how/out where to do that. Anyone know?

Hi. Saw this tonight and thought of your post, not an instant answer but if you read through you'll see some tips about Manifest file. http://www.androidtapp.com/android-2-2-install-android-apps-to-sd-card/

The link you provide is informative about how to get the phone to install to the sd card even when the app developer doesn't provide same for the app. My question is, How to modify the manifest to allow the app to move to the sd card?

From my research it appears all you have to do is change a setting / line in the manifest. But where this change would take place I haven't been able to find.

Sorry, thought I saw a thread at the bottom of that post about altering the manifest file.

In the manifest I find the following: package=com.myappname android:versionCode=1 andriod:versionName=1> <uses-sdk andriod:minSdkVersion=8/> Do I add the following? android:installLocation=auto> Do I add it immediately after the versionName line? Do I change anything else?

Went ahead and made the change, not success, but not apparent harm. Perhaps someone else knows. Thanks for the info.

@Fred @ mySkylla com, I have followed the guide on http://wp.me/p1ZRa7-8I, but when added to the manifest, the command does not change colour/stays black. Any one have any solutions? Thanks, Tish.

Late reply but perhaps for future users: package=com.myappname android:versionCode=1 andriod:versionName=1> <uses-sdk andriod:minSdkVersion=8/> Add the following: android:installLocation="preferExternal" So it looks as such: package=com.myappname android:versionCode=1 andriod:versionName=1 android:installLocation="preferExternal"> <uses-sdk andriod:minSdkVersion=8/> Note: Please note that the > is moved from the andriod:versionName line to the new andriod:installLocation line. So, the only thing you need to do is add the one line and move the > Nothing else. The preferExternal will automatically install to the SD Card. The allow will let the user choose. It's better to use preferExternal. For additional modifications need for the manifest go the The Buzztouch Process in my guide www.MySkylla.com Fred
