A new How-To! (that isn't under How-To's yet)

So I thought I'd spend a bit of time making a PDF file that will get posted on to the How-To's section of Buzztouch's website. I love the How-To's! They always have help when you need it. And if it's not there, then the forums also help. But one topic that I've seen go round and round the forums, is 'How to get automatic refresh on iOS'. So what did I do? Yes, you guessed right. I made an 'Automatic Refresh for iOS' PDF document. It is yet to be uploaded to the How-To's bit, but i'm sure it wont take long. Here is a link to this PDF file: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B8XoGCAJw3iNTm91SnlqZTVCaXM I hope you enjoy this and find it useful. I know that most experienced members know this, but for newbies, it will be useful: I hope.

Dude, that rocks! Very well written with clear, concise explanations and illustrations! My kind of document! We've had a number of discussions about this in the forum lately, so this is timed just right! Mark

Thanks for the comment. I've found one typo that can easily be corrected, but it's good to have feedback. I saw all those forum threads for the Automatic Refresh, and it made me help them out by creating this.

Well the secret to the design is the font I use. It's quite recognisable, because Apple use it. It's Myriad Pro. However, if its not installed as default, it is a very expensive font. About $900.

Beautiful document! Is there any downside to this? It seems like a great solution. You still need the user to hit the refresh button when they first download the app, right?

That was the most easiest and direct instructions I ever followed. Great idea to display text and visual instructions. Thanks for sharing. Vince

Thanks for the comments. I did forget to state that the first time, the app won't look for updates. I can include that in Version 2 of this document (I found a few typos as well), so I'll just improve that this evening.

Great document! One question, what happens if the user has no internet connection? Does it error out, or ignore it. (Although I could try it and see, thought I'd be lazy :) )

If there is no internet connection, the refresh wont be recognised, but if they refresh successfully, the cache data will be deleted.

Okay. The new version is now uploaded. It has a few more tips and corrected a few typos. Hopefully, this the final version, and I hope that this gets uploaded to the How-To's section soon. It was just worth it to get the fantastic feedback from you, let alone help others out in the forums who may find this useful
