Facebook Groups

Buzztouchers, Ive done alot of googling and i am still at a loss. Do you know if it is possible for us to implement into our BT app, our FB group page? I want to be able to display the wall, comment on posts, add new posts, and even search the post for certain name of poster for example Going back to stuff in 2009, it was possible with RSS but FB seemed to take that away from us? Thoughts? Thanks Steve

Hi @Bonzo, Have you tried the url link plugin? Also, Facebook has kind of taken over the handeling part on how they want to display it on Apps. Here is a link for Android: http://www.facebook.com/appcenter/fbandroid Hope this helps. LA

In my experience, Facebook pages work a lot better than groups on mobile - whether it's in app or in mobile Safari.

im more than happy to go down the 'page' route rather than the 'group' route. So you have the above ability when using a page?

Yep - Facebook already does the work of converting the page to a mobile-friendly view, so all you have to do is load the page url into the custom url plugin and you should be fine.

Have you looked at the Facebook SDK for ios? http://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2012/09/25/facebook-sdk-for-ios-and-the-ios-6-facebook-integration/ They now have a 'TweetSheet' and some other functionality....

i like the user friendly page, but ideally i could do without the FB 'look' otherwise it will just be the FB app? i just want the wall data to display within my own app, with the ability to add comments or new posts, and to search on the posts. ive not looked at SDK. im not that advanced yet :(

I think the reality is that FB wants you to use their services and APIs and not scrape their data. They want to track and monitor everything and they really control what you see/share/post by using some authentication somewhere in the chain. I'm not a big FB guy - but I sure hope whatever I do post there on occasion isn't accessible to the masses unless there is some authentication involved. LAME that SDK requires Xcode 4.5 so I can't look at it more - but the links and the tutorials they post with the SDK look to me like stuff you can do if you work at it a bit. Give it a look, it won't bite!
