BT server on a VM box

BT Server installed in a VM Linux running on a spare Windows server or Mac pro box. I only have the one app right now that I would like to test it out on the BT Server. So I can get a good feel as to what's needed and explain it to the network guru's in the office for our future plans... You think that's worth doing it that way and will it work ok? Assuming of course I can figure out the Install and read enough up on the issues.... :)

Not speaking as a BT rep, of course, but that seems like an ideal use of a VM! You have the normal considerations (bandwidth, CPUs, memory, etc) as with any VM, but there is no reason that it should not be perfectly acceptable to run BT in a VM. As long as the VM can handle the network traffic that will come with hosting multiple apps, and as long as it has enough disk space to handle the apps created, and CPUs to handle all the work being done, it seems like an awesome solution!
