Cant get my app working in eclipse, but its already in the iTunes App store....

Have downloaded all the APIs and SDK and everything, Downloaded the source code from buzztouch, Opened new Android Project and called it the same as the App name. When I try to run the project I get the Your Project contains error(s) please fix them before running your project What do I have to fix?? The app has been fully validated by iTunes Connect and it is available to download....

Hi @bian999, First, please keep in mind that iOS and Android are completely different platforms. So, while it may be validated/approved on iTunes, that pretty much has no bearing on Android at all! But, if it works in iOS, then it should work in Android, but may take a bit of massaging depending on what you want to do. In order for us to best help you, we need to know what sort of errors and issues you are experiencing. Screen output is extremely helpful, as is a detailed description of the actual problem. Once you provide that, we can help steer you in the right direction! Thanks, Mark

When i loaded the project at first i got a little red 'x' beside 'src' so I expanded it and when i check all the files there, the majority of the files inside 'BT_screen_map.java' had a little red 'x' on the icon...

So, just to make sure, have you followed the instruction in the Readme file that comes with your Android source package? It has some information about making sure you pick the correct API for your project. There is also a good video that BT has provided on that subject as well...well worth a look. Let me know if you've already done all that and are still having problems. Keep in mind, also, that a few things are still not working in the v1.5 code for Android, so the problem might be related to that. Mark

When I create the project, I give it a name and pick the source folder, but there is no option for a build target. I have got to the Android SDK manager and installed the Google API 8. P.S thanks for your prompt replies, I;m sure you guys are busy!!

This is from the Readme...I hear that you have the correct API installed on your system, but are you indicating the correct API in your project? Build Target. The Google API's checkbox should automatically select after choosing the source of your new project in step 3. Verify that you are using Google API's Platform 2.2 and API level 8. A common mistake is to assume Android 2.2 API's and Google 2.2 API's are the same, they are not. If you don't see Google API's 2.2 in your list of available Targets see b above - you don't have the necessary SDK components installed. Be sure to include the Google Maps Library when you install the components.

Im after looking over the Youtube video again, and I re-read the readme but the Build Target part isn't there....Just: Project Name: Create project from existing source And the Location section to choose the folder with the source code in it. Its the newest version of eclipse, is there a special way to select the Google API....

If you see posts from David@Buzztouch, Parker@Buzztouch, and one other guy who's name escapes me at the moment, they are actual BT employees. Everybody else is an enthusiastic user...and there are lots of them!

I closed everything up and restarted eclipse and magical Google 2.2 appeared!! all went fine after that, set up the emulator, set up the project and it ran fine on the emulator. But all my menus are black, I went to a good bit of effort on buzz touch to make them all nice and color coordinated. Is this something that just happens with emulator??

Do you mean the backgrounds are black and you see no text? Are you using a background image and is it in the BT_Images folder? Or are you using a URL for any images. URL you should see right away because the app grabs them when you start. The ones that are just image names like xyz.jpg need to be loaded into the eclipse project first then run the emulator. Hope that helps...

Ya I figured out I had to have the images in the eclipse project and they seem to be loading fine but the list rows should be yellow with white text but the whole list area is black with white text.... Have a look at this page for my iPhone version which is already working fine.... On the picture with the 5 iPhones, the one with the Custom HTML file works fine but the first and last pictures have the black menus with white writing.... http://www.heffernanwebservices.ie/mulligan.html

Glad you were able to get it to compile! There may be some differences between Android and iOS that won't allow for those colors...worth some research.

Ya I figured it out, it had to do with the theme settings for list background color. Jus the last thing before I go back into my cave for another while.... I have a tabbed layout. Its fine on the home screen but once I navigate away from the home screen the tabs at the bottom disappear on the android platform. It stays there all the time on the iPhone but I cant figure out why it disappears when I run it on Android..

Hmmm...that's a new one on me. I have a tabbed iOS app that I ran on Android, and had no problems. Maybe you can watch the console output as you move from tab to tab and see what happens?

Just out of curiosity... I'm just starting to compile on Android today, went through all the MANY steps to set up Eclipse. My Eclipse is different than the one in the YouTube video. My Eclipse is version 3.7.1 When I click Window, this part comes up like this: Android SDK Manager AVD Manger As in, it's two separate rows. In most of the videos I'm seeing, it's listed as Window Android SDK Manager and AVD Manager Is this going to be ok? Do I just have a newer version of Eclipse?

Yep, that's the way it is in my setup as well. Newer version of Eclipse, I guess. It's not an issue at all. And I agree...there are MANY...too many...steps required to set up the environment!
