buzztouch Server 2.0 Release.

It's going to be after 12:00. It's about :10 before 12:00 on the west coast and we're still packaging all the code you'll need. Expect a delay of a few hours. We are not sleeping until we have a download link ready! No sleep for the wicked.

Highly talented, creative and innovative and you work like there's no more tomorrow. And charitable. You guys are great; working on a gigantic project (considering a handful few you, I assume) like server 2.0. Hope to be able to make important contributions to you in the future. Keep it up, phenomenal success for you guys is what I wish. I've been working on some apps, and this is not the right time to ask for anything, but me waiting with bated breath for Android1.5 release 2 to complete my apps. My advance congratulations to the team.

@ IntoTheLight: Android v1.5 - totally get it! The fact is, we have way to many things going on and the number of irons-in-the-fire got way out of hand. The delays on Android v1.5 are bogus for sure. However, the self-hosted package we just released will actually HELP speed things along in lots of areas. I'll try to explain. The control panel you see at buzztouch.com has been growing, changing, improving (and sometimes getting worse) for a very long time. It needs an overhaul. When you make apps it should be as easy as possilble and all the options leaves lots of folks scratching their heads. The new Plugin Architecture that's included in the self-hosted package will allow us and others to easy and quickly create new screens and features without having to worry about the 'engine' that poweres it. In other words, buzztouch is just buzztouch, the plugins are where the creativity and complexity comes in. Trouble with a screen - ask the plugin creator. Need another types of screen, copy one you have or make a new one. All without having to get a totally different version of the 'engine' We'll get the buzztouch.com control panel to support this very soon. This means Android and iOS development will move much faster because lots and lots of folks will be incented to help. Don't feel bad for posting questions....you're not alone! night. (really this time, it's 5:00 now!)

@ mysps: Session support is almost always 'on' with PHP. It is required. Could it be that Session's aren't workign on your box? Do this: Have a look at the top few lines of any screen in the package. Say, Account > Change Password for example. You'll see where it checks for a cookie. If the cookie doesn't exist, you get logged out. The actual log-out routine is in the /includes/class.User.php file. Look at this file and see if it makes sense. I think the method is called: fnLoggedInReq. It's called on every page. It's logic is in the class.User.php page. Near the bottom. All it does is check the database to see if the user has '1' in the isLoggedIn field column. This gets set to '1' in each page near the top where all pages do: fnUpdateLastRequest The fnUpdateLastRequest method is called AFTER the fnLoggedInReq method. If $guid is empty the user gets logged out. If it's not empy, the database gets updated with '1' in the isLoggedInColumn

You dudes frickin ROCK!! David, is there any way you can give my your buzztouch email address. I have a couple of things that I want to run by you, if you don't mind. It's not help or tech support, and could really really benefit buzztouch i think. And no, I'm not asking for money or or to be sponsored or anything.

@Stefan...what plugin are you trying to upload - wink. We haven't provided any yet. Hoping to have a list of them to download be days end. The upload process expects a .zipped up package that conforms to a standard. Hard to explain, simple when you see it. THe idea, a plugin is a .zip package that contains several things. A readme.txt file, a UIViewController class for Objective C, and a .JAVA class for Anroid. Lastly, it contains a lightweight webpage that goes in your control panel to manipulate the details for the plugin. Blah, blah, We'll get the ones we've already been working on availalbe later. They are the same screens you're used to but packaged up individually for much more flexibility and extendability. You'll see what I'm mean when you upload some. d.

@David - ahhh.... that explains a lot! So thats why some of the .js files is giving me error like readme.txt and index.php is missing? So what I need to do is sit tight and wait until you provide us with some plugins, uh? Off/on topic I really like the design and UI of the BT server. Smooth and easy to understand. As usual great work from a great team. BR/Stefan

@GoNortWest - I'm not sure where to put it - also I don't have a account. Looks like rocket science to get me one :) Also maybe we should wait for the BT crew to release official tutorial. I just wanted to help eager users (and also wanted give the BT team the opportunity to have a coffe and a snack). If you'd like feel free to upload the file to the wiki. BR/Stefan

I have been trying for hours to get this to work with constant errors or when I get to the install page and input the database info it constantly says cannot connect, I have checked and rechecked everything, deleted the files and then re upload and tried in vain many different scenarios, still cannot get this to launch in a browser(chrome). Should I be creating tables in my data base? or will the install (if it ever runs for me) do that? Lost man

@ MarkCo Looks like we'll end up removing the .htaccess file and the missingURL directory all together. Lots of options server-side change how this works so we'll probably just avoid it altogher. .htaccess is only useful for folks that 'get it' anyway. If it were not there you would have had no problems (I don't think). As it turns out, .htaccess is not supported by many hosts. We underestimated how many folks are using shared / dedicated hosting services and not running their own boxes. Makes perfect sense. Glad you got it worked out.
