BT Server installation - 500 server error .htaccess problem

Hostgator baby croc shared hosting Linus CentOS Apache 2.2.19 PHP 5.2.17 Files folder is writable. Whichever domain I install the package on throws a 500 internal server error. My error logs show: 'BT-server/.htaccess: Invalid command 'php_value', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration' Temporarily disabling htaccess allows the install page to show, but I haven't tried to go any further yet.

ok, got it. php isn't installed as a module in hostgator, which the bt code assumes. If anyone else has the same problem, this is a fix: Remove this code from .htaccess: php_value upload_max_filesize 75M php_value post_max_size 75M php_value max_execution_time 360 php_value max_input_time 360 php_value memory_limit 256M Change the code to look like this: upload_max_filesize = 75M post_max_size = 75M max_execution_time = 360 max_input_time = 360 memory_limit = 256M and put in a notepad file. Save the notepad file as php.ini (this is a configuration settings file) upload the php.ini file to the root directory of the bt install.

Where are you viewing it? Easiest thing to do is open it on your desktop with notepad (right click and 'open with') and upload it when you're done. Just applied the fix and my server is up and running. Post here if you have any problems.

Check your error log in cpanel to see if it's the same error. That message is different to what I had.

Tried the fix above... Get to the install screen, but after putting in the database info - and clicking for stage 2 and get a forbidden error Forbidden You don't have permission to access /BT-server/install/install_2.php on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Following this. Been a very long time since I dealt with a module istalled PHP setup. Oversight on our thought, probably lots of these. doens't look like you've figured out a fix yet but does soundl ike we should lost the custom404 logic and the .htaccess file. Shared hosts usually hate the .htaccess thing anyway - should have realized that earlier. Newer package already coming tonight.

@brightscene - have you changed permissions for the files folder? 755 should do it. @COOKUP - so your htaccess now looks like this?: Options -indexes AddType application/vnd.android.package-archive .apk AddType text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor .jad AddType application/vnd.rim.cod .cod ErrorDocument 404 /BT-server/missingURL/404_missing.php <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / #any requests for a directoiry that does not exist is passed to customURL.php RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^([^/.]+)/?$ /BT-server/missingURL/index.php?name=$1 [L] </IfModule> and your php.ini file looks like this?: upload_max_filesize = 75M post_max_size = 75M max_execution_time = 360 max_input_time = 360 memory_limit = 256M and your php.ini file is definitely saved as php.ini, not phpini.txt or something? and the php.ini is in the root of your install - in the same directory as your index.php?

@raveyd - File directory permissions set to 777 already. Also changed install directory permissions from 0644 to 0777 now get : Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. @ yoyoandroid: Sounds like the PHYSCIAL PATH to the applicaiton is wrong in your database. We already heard this a few times becuase the install script is super simple and doesn't account for much room for error. You have two choices: 1) We already added a new download...get it again and re-do the process. You'll see where it checks this exact thing, the PATH to the files during the install. OR 2) Use a database admin tool to modify your database. in the bt_config table, look for a row with configKey = APP_PHYSICAL_PATH and update the value of this row to the actual physical path of your install. Easy enough. The physical path will be something like /var/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/BT-server it all depends on your webservers file system.

can't seem to pass part 2, keep getting this error no matter what the permissions are Forbidden You don't have permission to access /.../BT-server/install/install_2.php on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. AND THIS IN ERROR LOG File does not exist: /home/......../public_html/403.shtml, referer: http://MY SITE/..../BT-server/install/index.php but it's there, Guess i have to wait for the next roll out!

Downloaded the new 2.0.2 and still getting the same result on step 2 even after seeing the check mark in the box. Forbidden You don't have permission to access /BT-server/install/install_2.php on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have the same issue with 2.03..... Thank you for contacting HostGator. The issue with Internal Server Error was caused by the PHP settings being present in .htaccess file. Please be advised that all PHP should go to a custom php.ini file instead of .htaccess. We've commented out these lines in .htaccess file and the site is no longer showing the same error. For more details on the use of php.ini file, please refer to our support article: http://support.hostgator.com/articles/specialized-help/technical/what-is-php-ini Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Thank you! Best regards,

You know what? it came down to one simple mistake I was overlooking.....In the first setup screen it asked for the root URL....It had already populated the field with yourdomain.com/BT-Server.....I just added the correct domain....BUT if you notice the pre-populated field contains /BT-Server....the correct folder is BT_Server.....the small things!

Lose the .htaccess, things will be much better. We'll get it removed in the download too. Amazing how many different scenarios there are but constant tinkering with the install process has already helped tons of folks. Yes, your pain was somebody elses gain.
