Hi, wondering if I need to check off (optimized for streaming) and (enable streaming) when exporting mp4 videos from iMovie or Final Cut Pro....seems like the v1.5 iOS and Android(coming soon) already know what to do with these files when streaming? So enabling streaming or making a file Web Optimized probably doesn't make a difference? Thanks for any insight :)

Hey Ian, This is just my understanding so anyone please jump in and offer another perspective if i'm wrong: Streaming is just referring to how the media is played to whatever is requesting it. Usually the video (or audio, or whatever have you) will begin to play while the file is still being downloaded. Sometimes the file will begin to download for a little bit and then start playing while the rest finishes downloading so you don't have to stop and wait half way through for the video to cache. Whether a file streams or not has to do with if the option was enabled during exporting. Or some services like youtube will stream videos for you even if you upload a video without streaming enabled. So it can depend on where the file is/ been uploaded to. Optimizing for streaming allows the exporter to choose a connection speed that they would like their media to play well at. Say for example if you wanted to have a video that played well on someones 56k internet connection. There is also the possibility of exporting a media file at multiple optimization levels and then when that file is accessed, say on a website, the browser will play the optimized video that will look the best based on connection speed.

Hi Parker, thanks for the info, just wasn't sure if i should enable the streaming stuff since it increases the file size...trying to make one format that plays on all devices :) by the way, just picked up an actual android device (Acer tablet) so i can hopefully be more helpful with debuggin v1.5 on actual device...cheers!
