Menu List Row Height, Font Size not working for me

I have checked to make sure there are no custom settings in my Menu Lists and rows. The only effect I can produce (other than changing the font size in the rows) is when I change to rounded corners, there is a white border between the Menu List and the rows, in effect putting a white border around the rows. I read that I have to have rounded corners for some other effects to occur, and I have done that, but no effect. Any ideas?
