video change .m4v to .mp4 for Apple TV

FYI on encoding and streaming local video from your app: QuickTime has an great export setting for iPhone 4/iPad/Apple TV and gives the .m4v extension. .m4v video files function perfectly on iPhone/iPad inside the app... but, only the audio will function (no video) when the video is selected for AirPlay on Apple TV because of the .m4v extension. If you just change the file extension to .mp4 after you export from QuickTime, it will function perfectly across the board including Apple TV.... Or you could just encode to .mp4 via some other program to begin with. Posted this to save someone a headache down the line... Ross

Ross, Question. Maybe you know the answer. I built an app that allows TV Out. Everything from the iPad is displaying fine on the TV with the exception of my video files. They are in a .mp4 format and work fine within the application. Do you have any clue as to why i get a black screen when trying to display these videos. I see my audio and duration controls but everything else is black. Anthony
