App rejected ...focuses primarily on marketing or adverting your business

Here is a new one for you to ponder! My second attempt to submit my app to the apple app store got this response; We found that your app provides a limited set of features and functionality, and focuses primarily on marketing or promoting your business, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines. My app is no different to many that I have seen that I have developed for a hire company to showcase their equipment and enable them to hire equipment. It has photos of equipment, specifications, contact channels and an RSS page to keep up to date on construction news. WHat the hell are they going on about? Our major food outlets in Australia have just released a marketing tool to sell food online...what's the difference? Has anyone else run into this? Tony

Yes. I've had an app rejected for the same reason. You can add some functionality -- like a quiz -- to help with the approval process. Also, sometimes deleting the app from iTunes connect, wait a day then resubmit and hope you get a different reviewer. I've had apps rejected then the exact same app approved with no problem a week later.

Thanks MGoBlue! I put in an appeal process so I hope that doesn't put a flag on my app in a bad way. I will try your quiz approach if my appeal fails. Thanks again for post Tony

I've done an appeal twice. Both times I did not win. But in the first instance, I waited a month and resubmitted the app and it was approved. Weird. Good luck.

I believe the appeal process is put there merely to torture people....they just use the appeal documents as dartboards or shredded kitty litter.
