Mine takes forever too. Sometimes it helps to close it down and re-open it, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it'll chuck out an error, then next time open immediately. A developer friend of mine uses linux and says the emulator always fires up almost straight away. It should load up soon after you get that shimmering logo! Hello up in Stoke by the way!

What version did you create your app and 1.4 or 1.5? what api level did you choose?

I believe that is correct. I had a similar problem, creating the app in bt 1.4, then couldnot see the app in the virtual device. My solution was to create an app in BTv1.5 & use google 2.2 api 8. apparently there have been a major shift and the virtual device will have problem seeing the application as the apps are being stored on the scan disk card. So unless you need to write an app in BTv1.4, it might bsp better to start using BTv1.5.
