Having trouble archiving to submit to the App store, code signing

Hi, I'm finished with my app except that I need to archive it with a Distribution Provisioning Profile. I have archived it successfully by signing it with a Development Provisioning Profile, but that won't work when trying to submit it to the App Store. I have read all the Apple Developer Library documents on how to code sign and use provisioning profiles and have googled several things. I hired someone to try to get it to work and they tried to upload it to iTunes Connect and it said Invalid Binary. Can someone please help me? Thanks!

Which version of Xcode are you using? And how are you attempting to upload it to Apple?

@Terry: I am stuck on Step 10 #2 on the link you gave me. I do not know how to get to configurations, since I am using Xcode 4.

@shak Check out this transition guide. All of that changed in version 4, hence why I asked what version you were using. http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/IDEs/Conceptual/Xcode4TransitionGuide/Orientation/Orientation.html

I'm not at my Mac right now, so if you haven't figured it out in the next few hours, I'll get you some more details when I get back to it.

@got fox: Thanks for the link! It did help me but unfortunately, when I went to archive, it said it failed because: [BEROR]CodeSign error: code signing is required for product type 'Application' in SDK 'iOS 4.3' Any ideas?

Make sure that you have your distribution profile installed and selected in the build configuration.

I have both of those, but it still doesn't work. When I hired someone to do it, they spent 3 hours and couldn't get it to work. Is it possible you could take a look at it if I sent it to you (via email)?
