Got Eclipse SDK & Android SDK Platform but...

Hi Ive installed Eclipse but when I open File / New , there is no option for New Android Project. So obviously I have not got the Android SDK Platform installed. I opened Android SDK and AVD Manager and have the following installed packages: Android SDK Tools, revision 12 Android SDK Platform-tools, revision 6 SDK Platform Android 3.2, API 13, revision 1 SDK Platform Android 1.6, API 4, revision 3 Google APIs by Google Inc., Android API 4, revision 2 Google Admob Ads Sdk package, revision 3 My question of the day is... I have both eclipse and android-sdk-mac_X86 folders installed on my Mac Mini in the Applications folder, so what am I doing wrong? Can someone advise me on my configurations? Many Thanks Terry

Have you set the Android Preferences? if not... Then Window -> Preferences-> Android and browse to the android SDK folder. Else try re-installing the SDK and grab the packages again... Good Luck

I have pretty much the same problem, with the mention that I can't even find/see the Android option when I open Eclipse--->Window-->Preferences

Jennyapps, Are you using Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later (x86 only)?? At a minimum? I don't have my mac yet. Couple more days. Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing? Both Eclipse and the Android SDK gabriel, Are you using MAC or PC?

Let me make sure I'm clear. Under WINDOWS on the Eclipse Tabs you do not see the following as the last 2 lines Android SDK and AVD Manager Preferences

Sounds like maybe the Android SDK is not installed. Above preferences do you see Android SDK and AVD Manager. and within that when you look at installed packages do you see Android SDK Tools and Android SDK Platform-tools ??

You need to install the android SDK from the link below. http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

Well the fact that you dont see Android under the preference tab has to mean the install did not establish the links it needed to it. Sorry to say but I would uninstall and re-install eclipse and the Android SDK following these instructions.... http://ishankgupta.com/2011/05/how-to-install-android-sdk-in-eclipse/ or these http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html

Does anyone know what this means? Update your PATH environment variable to know about the Android tools There are different ways of setting your default PATH variable. I use ~/.bash_login but ~/.bash_profile also works. The Android tools are in the tools directory of the Android SDK. So this is what I added to .bash_login: export PATH=$PATH:/Android/android-sdk-mac_x86/tools

gabriel, Found this doing a google search on your problem. Give it a try.... Go into your workspace, and move your project source code folder to another area outside of your workspace (like the desktop). Make sure the project is deleted in eclipse, then create a new project from source from that directory. Another thing you could do is try creating a project of a different name (from the first project's source), so that the workspace will contain the new project as a functional project. Then, go into your workspace directory and absolutely delete the folder that contained the original project, or move it. Try loading the project from source again, this time using the second project, by naming it with the correct name. Or, you could try refactoring the second project back to the first's name

from this out I'm totally lost...I've created at the first try my project from to the desktop not from my workspace...and guess what?...didn't worked.. it looks like, despite the fact that this apps. stuff combined with my method have a great potential, I'll stick to my other IM projects who requires less technical skills... anyway thanks for your great support

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes you step away for a bit and come back and things clear up. At least for me it does since most of my issues are in my head... :)
