Will app be rejected by app store?

Hello, My father is the boys soccer coach at a local high school. I'm working on an app that will simply have the schedule, roster (with pictures), maps with location of away games, the stats for their games, and general pictures. I'm sure the kids would love to have their own app. I'm sure I'll breeze through the Android Market but will this app have enough functionality to get to the App Store? I'm just wondering if I should avoid the headache of prepping for the App Store if there's no way it will make it through. Or, if someone has some suggestions for functionality that will allow it to be approved... Thank you, Nathan

Hi Nathan, Apple will generally reject apps that offer nothing beyond what could be accessed by a web browser, so it'll be helpful if you add something special. Lot's of users will add a quiz, or create something of their own to make their app unique. But it all depends on who is reviewing your app at apple. If you're only intending for your app to be distributed to just a few people, like the players, then you could go the route of Ad Hoc distribution and skip the app store. http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10115674-233.html or maybe something like testflight? https://testflightapp.com/

Thank you Parker, I like the looks of the testflightapp. I had considered the Ad Hoc method but thought it would be cumbersome to get the UDID's and add them to provisioning etc. This may eliminate that headache. Ultimately, I would like to have it in the store so I will keep brainstorming. It's the novelty of it being official I guess. I appreciate your help not just on my post, but the countless other times you have provided great information. Thanks, Nathan

You're welcome Nathan, Like I said, you can go ahead and try submitting it to apple if you want to be more official. They may approve it. Their testers appear to vary in how strictly they enforce the submission rules.

Try submitting. I did something very similar and had no issues. Again, like Parker stated...all depends of that reviewer had a bad morning or not.

I did something similar and well, and it passed with no issues : http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ovfps/id463181339 I threw in a quiz for this app, just to increase chances of making it through. But, I think having the game schedule online, as well as being able to provide driving directions to the various fields, helped a lot. I think it's worth a shot!
