Just read that Steve Jobs passed away today at age 56. See the tribute on Apple's website!

Speechless. LONG afternoon mourning somebody that I've looked up to for a very long time. Amazing how emotional I got with the news. I think more than anything, Steve Jobs spent his life preparing us for the future. A future he saw clearly when nobody else did. Some looked very very hard and still couldn't see it. Steve gazed over his coffee every morning and saw far beyond the end of the table. He way further than anyone we've seen in recent times. Lately, it's hard not to miss a printed newspaper, an old fashioned telephone call, a knock at the door from a neighbor or a friend, a trip to the library for some relaxing or researching. Pleasures we see dissappearing at a rapid pace. Steve Jobs was sure his iDevices would change the way we read, talked, met, and gathered information. He knew he was right. He didn't WANT to lose all the things that make life great, he, unlike most others, knew we didn't have a choice, we would lose them the way we were used to them eventually. He knew that technology doesn't stop moving 'forward', even if we want it to. And, most importantly, he knew life could still be great if we embraced progress rather than resist it. Rather than fight, argue, and otherwise ruin the transition from old-to-new by selling us crappy products that promised to make life easier (like so many others promised to do but complicated us and frustrated us), Steve Jobs remained true to his vision. A vision that I believe included a sincere desire to help humanity navigate THROUGH this difficult time. Not up to it, not into it, but through it. 10 years from now we'll all be remembering him and his iDevices and his beloved Apple for the things he helped us understand, not the things he sold us. I can't predict where buzztouch will be in ten years and I won't try to guess. But, I will say that without Steve Jobs and his iDevices and his constant pursuit of perfection, buzztouch wouldn't be where it is today - in a transition from old-to-new with a very clear understanding of what the future looks like. RIP Steve, we'll miss you.

Nicely put David, made me bubble again. Awful, awful news. Remember coming home with my first iMac 10 yrs ago and wondering how things could possibly get any better, now I hold the world in the palm of my hand. Thanks Steve. World seems a little lighter this morning. We all owe a debt to Steve, one which we cannot put a figure on for inspiring people like David at Buzztouch. He didn't just create, he inspired, he didn't just build, he perfected, The world has indeed lost a TRUE visionary. Still can't believe I feel like this about a man I never met. That was one of his gifts though I think. We all felt like he was doing it for us and just 'got' what we wanted. RIP Steve and thanks!

I strive to be innovative with everything I do. And while my wife may remind me that my ideas are not always right, I find solace in that fact that I'm in good company.

In honor of Steve, watch the video below. It's his Stanford Commencement Speech from 2005. . . and it's phenomenal! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1R-jKKp3NA&feature=player_embedded#!
