Rejected: appDataInvalid

Firstly, I am proud to join the group that has been rejected by Apple. That being said, I'd also like to join the group that has been accepted. I just got a notice from Apple with the following error message: When we launch your app, an alert is displayed with a message that states, appDataInvalid Any thoughts? I have tested the app on devices and never got this error.

Reinstall the app you submitted to apple on your device (or run it in the sim) and see if the error comes up. What does the console display when you run the app? Are there any errors? Also make sure the app doesn't prompt the user for a refresh. The app you send to apple should be good to go without any updates needed.

I make it a good habit not to touch the BT app while in review status with Apple.

Thanks Parker. Are you saying that I should reinstall the zipped binary? I'm not sure I know how that is done. This is part of the Apple message: We found that your app exhibited one or more bugs, when reviewed on iPhone 4 running iOS 5 Could iOS 5 be part of my issue? I'm running Snow Leopard (and don't want to go to Lion) Also, when I run the simulator from XCode I see my splash page, it fades after 3 seconds, then I get a short loading circle, then my home screen appears...no error

Sorry for the delay, What I meant is to download you project from buzztouch again. Open this in xcode and see if there are any errors or warnings when you compile. Did apple give any information on the bugs they encountered? Could you post any part of the message that may explain what they saw a problem with?

I went thru the app and resubmitted. It was rejected again for the same reason. Here is the exact text from Apple: 2.2 We found that your app exhibited one or more bugs, when reviewed on iPhone 4 running iOS 5, on both Wi-Fi and cellular networks, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines. When we launch your app, an alert is displayed with a message that states, appDataInvalid Please refer to the attached screenshot for more information. To appeal this review, please submit a request to the App Review Board. For discrete code-level questions, you may wish to consult with Apple Developer Technical Support. Please be sure to include any symbolicated crash logs, screenshots, or steps to reproduce the issues when you submit your request. For information on how to symbolicate and read a crash log, please see Tech Note TN2151 Understanding and Analyzing iPhone OS Application Crash Reports. I will try to download the whole thing again. Is there something wrong with what I have on my splash page (BT splash) or home page (modified buttons)?? There is nothing I'm asking the app to retrieve from a wireless source or from the cloud? Any additional insight is appreciated.

When you run your app did you receive any errors or warnings in the xcode console?

No. I was reading a post where David suggested cutting the Config Data from the core properties and pasting in to the BT_config.txt file in Xcode to eliminate any refresh issues when the app first loads. I'm hesitant to resubmit until I can explore all possibilities.

Yeah updating the config.txt file will ensure that you app is up to date. But, I'm not sure that is the issue here. Maybe you could take that config data, copy it and paste it over at http://jsonlint.com/ . See if that produces any errors?

I left a few pages on the BT build that do not go anywhere or do anything. They were some of my initial builds as I was laying out the app. They are not connected to or linked to any pages any longer. Could these floating pages give me this error?

another thought... I read this error in the Xcode console when I run the app in the simulator: 2011-10-22 13:27:25.558 barshmitzvah[4168:207] BT_fileManager: File does exist in cached directory: cachedAppConfig.txt Which file would an error like this be referring to? Could this be the root of my problem?

and also this error: 2011-10-22 13:37:47.348 barshmitzvah[4168:207] BT_background_view: Image for background view exists in Xcode bundle - not downloading.

'Floating' screens not connected to anything might be the problem. Test it out after linking or removing them. Neither of the posts above are errors, but rather updates as to what the app is doing as it loads. 2011-10-22 13:27:25.558 barshmitzvah[4168:207] BT_fileManager: File does exist in cached directory: cachedAppConfig.txt This post has to do with loading the Config data for your app. When your app loads it will first check the cache for an updated config.txt file. If one isn't found it will use the config.txt file that came in your project you opened when getting xcode or eclipse going. So this is fine. 2011-10-22 13:37:47.348 barshmitzvah[4168:207] BT_background_view: Image for background view exists in Xcode bundle - not downloading. Again this is an update and not an error. It just means that the image is embedded in the app and won't need to connect to a URL to download the image.

Thanks Again Parker. I was able to recreate the AppDataInvalid message this afternoon when I downloaded Xcode with iOS5. As soon as I ran the app in the 5.0 simulator the error came up. I have been able to fix and rebuild most to the connections. Now I'm having issues getting my pdf files to come up. Seems simple but I keep getting the Data for this screen has not been downloaded. I have gone thru everything in the forums. I may just switch the links to HTML

How are these .pdf files being accessed? Are you trying to embed the files in your project? If so are they visible in your project within xcode? Did you recompile after adding them?

I am trying to embed them. I dragged and dropped them in Xcode as I have before. Cleaned. Built. Same result. When I tried to make the pages HTML or a word file the same error came up. So, I am going to try to rebuild the menu list page to see if the problem has to do with the reference to the .pdf instead of the .pdf itself.

Well...I rebuilt in Xcode 4.2, iOS5 and was rejected again with the error message AppDataInvalid. Apple will not be any more specific on what is wrong. The error has not come up in simulator or on the devices I have loaded it on to. Any other thoughts?

I know this is getting to be a long post. In the output window this appears when I launch in simulator: 2011-10-27 21:41:12.803 barshmitzvah[28289:207] BT_screen_splash: Image for splash-screen exists in bundle - not downloading. [Switching to process 28289 thread 0x207] Could the splash screen be an issue?

No that seems fine. It is just saying that the image is embedded in the app and doesn't need to download it from a URL. You say the error shows up right when the app fires up? Maybe you could copy and paste the console output here so we can see if anything looks funny?
