Can I launch App Store from Tab Bar?

Is it possible to launch the App Store (so user can review and purchase paid app) from the Tab Bar? Or do I need a Menu Screen with a button leading to the App Store? Sorry if this has already been asked in the past. I couldn't find any posts on this subject.

I would think you could. Simply create a Launch Native App screen, and put in the link for an app store app in it. Then, link the tab bar button to that screen. Seems like it should work! The data string should look like this : itms-apps://ax.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewContentsUserReviews?type=Purple Software&id=<your app id goes here>

Another question… I want to link to the app store from my app, but how do I add the data string to my app if it isn't in the app store yet? OK, this is probably a silly question and I could find the answer if I look harder, but I hope someone here can give me a quick answer. Thanks!

I don't think it would be possible to link to an app that doesn't exist in the store yet. If you know the app name, there is probably a search query you could generate, that would eventually find the app, but I don't know what it would be. Let me know if you figure it out!

Launch Native App and other 'action' type methods like Call Us, Email Us, etc will NOT work if they are not part of a menu or button screen. When a tab is selected it needs to load a screen that has content, like a menu, gallery, html, pdf, etc. If you want to launch a native app...add a list menu as the home screen for the tab, then add the launch native app to the list menu.

You can link to an app that isn't in the app store. I've got a number of apps that I set up review links for prior to them being submitted. It all hinges on the app ID which you create in iTunes connect. For instance, to link to the review page for your app set the following in your launch native app section: itms-apps://ax.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewContentsUserReviews?type=Purple+Software&id=XXXXXXX Replace 'XXXXXXX' with your app id.
