Launch App Store Trouble

Hi everyone, Thanks for taking the time to help me. Working on the Free version of my app, and I'm trying to get a certain screen to direct to my paid version in the app store. I guess I'm confused on how to do this, in the admin panal it asks me for a URL, but when I put in my URL to the app store (http://itunes.apple.com/app/id463354448) nothing launches. I also tried having the screen launch safari, with this URL as the destination, but am getting an error Destination is not valid or nothing launches at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Peter

Create a Launch Native App screen, use the following link, and substitute your app id at the end : itms-apps://ax.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewContentsUserReviews?type=Purple Software&id=<your app id> That should work! Mark

Thanks! You're a boss. I assume I can't test this within the simulator because the app store is not installed? Do you know if there is a way to install this to test?

Yeah, I don't think you can test it in the simulator. What I do to get around issues like that, and for general testability of app features, is that I have created a Test App that I install on my phone. Then, if I want to see how a particular feature works, I configure it in that app, and check it out on my phone. That way it doesn't affect the actual app I'm working on...especially if that app has already been released! I find it a great way to do testing, especially in situations like this! Mark

By the way...you should sign up for the v1.5 beta from your account home page. It's much more feature rich than v1.4!

That's weird...when I initially made the v1.5 statement, I was posting from my phone, and no early adopter badge was displayed...so, I thought you were still on 1.4!

Hi again - I just tried this string: itms-apps://ax.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewContentsUserReviews?type=Purple Software&id=<463354448> And it didn't load to the app store for my app. Any thoughts?

Yep...get rid of the <>'s at the end. It should just be your app id. Then it should work!

Thanks for the fast response! Getting closer... now it links to just my app's reviews. I notice in the string it has viewContentsUsersReviews can I delete this? I am trying to have them purchase the paid app (this is for the free version). Thanks again

Sorry about that...you're right, that link would be for reviews. In Google, I'm seeing that the following works : itms-apps://itunes.com/apps/your-app-name And here's a conversation in Stack Overflow about it as well : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/433907/how-to-link-to-apps-on-the-app-store Let me know if it works!
