Uploading to Android Market... I don't know what my APK is

I am a beginner here okay. Please be nice. I have created my app. Gone through all the directions all the way to getting my app to work on the sym in eclipse. I have my Android Developer Account and now it is asking for me to upload the APK file. I am completely lost. My source code that I downloaded doesn't say anything about APK. Please break things down VERY Simply for me. Thank you for your kind help here.

Creating an APK is super-easy with Eclipse. a) Hightlight the project b) Right / Command click to produce the options menu c) Near the bottom choose Android Tools > Export Signed Application This process will walk you through a few steps and create a .APK file. You can do several things with this file. You could upload it to the Market, put in on your website, etc. The .APK is the compiled application that devices install.

Thank you so very very much for your help... I would have never known what to do with this. God Bless You! So all I do then is upload that file to android market and I am done? And will the app update on it's own if I change it?

Marketplace has been a bit strange for me recently, an app took the best part of 2 days to show in the marketplace, and other times they can appear in minutes.

@raveyd I was having major problems just using the marketplace several days ago... I contacted verizon wireless (my cell phone provider) about the issue and actually had to reset my phone over it. But they came to inform me later that Marketplace is undergoing some Major revisions causing some parts to have an easy time updating and some parts are not. It took almost three days for my phone to get the actual current marketplace back on ... it was trying to function under the marketplace that existed a year ago before it finally fixed itself. So I guess the moral for us all is time heals everything. My app did go live last night and you can search it now and find it right away... but I guess apps that are more advanced or complicated than mine will take some time to update since they are updating their own system. Anyway, I am eternally grateful to ianjamespiano for helping me learn how to finish my app. And I am grateful for a kind word from you too raveyd. Happy Creating to you Both :D
