Hey Ian, What's that actual file size (dimensions) of the image? I'm assuming it's named properly, doesn't include special characters, is a proper file type, etc. Anything else you can tell us?

Hi Parker, it's a jpeg file with no special charactes, it is 700 x 700 pixels so maybe it's too large? I noticed that it doesn't look like the image is resizing on iPad either...I guess I could just resize the images to work on both large and small devices..thought the full screen/preserve ratio would be like in the image galleries?

Yeah I think you need to re-size 'em. Give that a try, and post back if you're still having issues.

1.5v I have tried using 320x480 [email protected] Full Screen, Preserve Ratio and 640x906 [email protected] Full Screen, Preserve Ratio. Both don't produce the clear splash screen. any ideas?

I found a good link about iOS images: http://globalmoxie.com/blog/designing-for-iphone4-retina-display.shtml @cyrisneo - According to that article linked you would want to use two images that look roughly the same, the smaller one (320x480) would be named image.png and the larger one would be named [email protected]. Maybe it was a typo above, but you listed the two images with the same name. Are you having trouble producing the clear images on the simulator or an actual device?

I'm adding retina quality images for everything and I'm having a similar problem with the Splash screen. Files: SpashSmall.png (480x320), SplashLarge.png (960x480) No matter what I do, I can't get the large splash to display correctly on the Retina iPhone simulator. For some reason all that is displayed is a really zoomed in splash of the center of the image. I have the large splash set under 'image large device' and/or 'image small device' in BT and have tested one, the other, and both. Nothing works. Does BT just not display 960x480 splash screens for iPhones? I can get the large splash to display on the iPad simulator.. I guess my issue might be answered with: Does 'large device' only refer to iPad? Will my high res images for retina display be scaled down automatically for non-retina devices?

@ QuiggityBiggity, Yes large device refers to ipads and other tablets. As pointed out in the article I linked to above, You will manually add a second image to the BT_images folder. This second image, for retina displays, Shou8ld be named the same as you image for small devices with the addition of @2x appended to the end of the name. You should have 3 images if you want to cover all of your bases: smallImage.png - for regular iphones [email protected] - for retina iphones largeImage.png - for ipads

oh, so the @2x is a REQUIRED part of the filename? I don't remember seeing that explicitly stated anywhere on BT.. How'd you know?

@Parker- Yeah it was a typo. I had to add the images to the project in xcode. Issue resolved.

@ QuiggityBiggity - Yeah if you want your iphone to distinguish between a retina display image and a non retina display image, you will need to include the @2x. It is covered in the link I posted above, and in the Apple Developer Guides. @ cyrisneo - Glad you got it to work!
