Speed, look, and images - better in HTML or free form text?

So, I finished my first iPhone app and had it compiled. Buzztouch ROCKS!!! I want to make some adjustments based on how it looks after it was compiled, and was curious about something. I have been using the HTML menu for most of the screens in the app, because the notes in Buzztouch say that is preferred (I think I read that somewhere), and that you can have the HTML code to pinch and resize text. Have you found it better, or more importantly, faster from the user experience, to use HTML or the free form text option? Also, when using graphics in an app, is it preferable (FASTER) and cleaner to link to an image that I have stored on my own website, or can I insert an image directly into the app using the freeform tool rather than using HTML? How would I do that?

Hi Daniel, If you embed graphics they will load faster than an file hosted online the first time the screen with that graphic is loaded. After that, during any subsequent visit, either manner should load equally fast, as the 'online' image will now be stored in cache. You can embed images by dragging them into the BT_images folder within xcode/eclipse. You will need to recompile for the images to show up on the device/sim. A refresh won't do the trick. I believe that generally your HTML screens should load just as fast a plain text screen. Assuming they are comparable in formatting and imagery/background, etc. Make a test screen of the other type, and do a quick test. Whatever you learn will be useful information to apply to the rest of your app.

I'm really interested in in this as well. I'm to the point where I can use embedded text/pics or load html pages inside the app and I'm not sure of the pros and cons. I like the idea of pulling html pages into the app as I can change the content on my web server and it automatically refreshes the next time a user launches my app. However, I know the app would load faster if I used embedded text/pics instead. If you embed images and text within the app, must you recompile it after any changes? I'm assuming any content within the apk file is static UNLESS its pulling html from a server.

@Tim, Yes, any additions, removals, or changes to embedded content will require a recompile and re-submission to app store/ android market.
