pop up blocker

question, one of my apps calls to a website that is a log-in screen. That screen then goes to another but through the app it won't allow for the site to be opened because of a pop up blocker. I've disabled popup blocker on my device and still nothing. Please help!

Still working on it David. Meanwhile, I was asked to write an article about the apps I built via buzztouch on TECHEDGE magazine and I gave a big shout out to the crew at Buzztouch! I will forward you an e-mail copy so you can take a read. TECHEDGE is the premier instructional technology magazine for education throughout Texas!

Okay so I just placed this: in file and I still couldn't open website through app. //url contains skyweb.mcallenisd.net/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=wsFam/fwemnu01.w if(jsonString.contains(skyweb.mcallenisd.net) || useUrl.contains(https://skyweb.mcallenisd.net/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=wsFam/fwemnu01.w)){ useMyIntent = 0; } It still didn't work. What am I doing wrong? Once I make the change do I need to recompile, anything else?

Dunno: Lets do this: a) Post the name of the app, exactly as it appears in your control panel. b) Post the name of the screen (the nickname in your control panel) that is not behaving...If a login is required for this screen, provide one if you can. c) Post a simple: 'It's OK for buzztouch to download my app for testing' I have access to your app but cannot download it without your permission. I'll get the thing figured out!

OK... On a device (Motorola Droid, running Android 2.2). Tapping Check Grades loads a Login screen. On a simulator (running Android 1.6). Tapping Check Grades loads a login screen (same screen). In both cases tapping the LogIn button without entering any login info shows an alert message. This is good because it shows that the built in browser is supporting javascript (needed to show the message). When I downloaded the project I didn't adjust anything, no code changes. So, if this is not the behavior you're getting, or if your description of the login screen 'going to another screen' requires a login screen, I'll need some testing credentials to continue. Maybe I'm missing something.

David thanks for checking on this. The thing is when I enter a username and password so I can check grades it brings up another screen that says popup blocker needs to be disabled. It doesn't allow me to go further. However, popup blocker is disabled and when I log on to the site through my mobile browser it opens just fine. It also opens fine in the simulator. It just won't go past the popup blocker when it is going through the app. Thanks again David.

Ah... I see. And, I also understand why I won't be able to try the login screen (no login / password, this is ok). I see the 'block pop-up windows' in the default browser settings on my Droid. This adjusts the settings for the Native Browser. It's looking like that setting has no effect on the built in browser available for developers to use in apps - like this one. So, still scratching my head trying to figure out what's happening. Because I have no idea what it actully tried to load (I can't login) I'm not sure how to diagnose? The .java file you tinkered with before (Screen_CustomURL.java) is for sure where the fix is going to be. A method called: shouldOverrideUrlLoading runs with every page load or button click. This method determines of the URL should load or not. We need to figure out a way to see what it's actually trying to load when it fails. Have you been able to use the LogCat output window to see some debugging information? It's a bit nerdy but you could open the LogCat window... Window > Show View > Other > Android > LogCat With the device running and connected to your computer (Eclipse) you should see lots of output in the LogCat window showing the URLs' it's loading, etc. Maybe copy/paste what you see in an email?
