Problem loading app's configuration data in Android

When I open my BT v1.5 app for the first time on my AVD I get a dialogue box with the following: -- Something's not right There was a problem loading the app's configuration data. See the LogCat (console) output in Eclipse. -- Here's a screenshot of the LogCat output: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/VgEIFNULltl9FTd5Iaw5aw?feat=directlink Could it be something related to the Data exceeds UNCOMPRESS_DATA_MAX item? Thanks, David

Hi Davidwigl, I tried to look at your linked photo but got a 'page not found error'. Could you double check it's existence or re-upload the image?

I'm still getting the same error.... is the file set to be visible to the public? Do you have another place you can put the file, Dropbox or flickr maybe? Is the URL ( https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/VgEIFNULltl9FTd5Iaw5aw?feat=directlink ) correct?

Ughhhhh, thanks for your patience. I changed the privacy settings to public but apparently that created a new link that is below. I've tested it through various browsers not logged in as myself or anything so it should work this time. If not, second link is dropbox https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/VgEIFNULltl9FTd5Iaw5a5-hKqlilsKp6uwSbByK4t8?feat=directlink http://dl.dropbox.com/u/37540886/Android%20LogCat%20problem.JPG

OK thanks for that. So, it appears that Data exceeds UNCOMPRESS_DATA_MAX is your problem. From what I found on Google: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5789177/i-get-this-error-data-exceeds-uncompress-data-max-on-android-2-2-but-not-on-2-3 http://ponystyle.com/blog/2010/03/26/dealing-with-asset-compression-in-android-apps/ the error is triggered when a file is too large for Android to compress. With this in mind, how large is your Config.txt file? or how many screens are in your app? I'm guessing that you have a ton of screens and/or a large Config.txt file. Both articles mention the issue is resolved with Android 2.3.3 - Are you using an earlier version? The articles also hint at getting Android to not compress certain file types. That'll probably be your best option, aside from reducing the size of your app (Assuming it's large).

Thanks for your help! It loads and runs fine now using Google APIs 2.3.3. Renaming the config.txt file didn't work as buzztouch specifically looks for config.txt. I have 2,000 screens and counting, so definitely a large Config.txt file.
