What are we doing wrong - Location Map

Hopefully this is a simple issue guys, would appreciate any help. We're just trying to use the Location Map menu for our App to show our home town, which isn't quite doing that when we run the app in xcode. Basically all that happens is the town we want flicks up for a second, before zooming right out to the whole world showing a pin in North America or wherever the default pin is. The town is Warracknabeal, VIC, Australia. The coordinates and settings we have are as follows - LAT. : -36.253 LONG : 142.394 ZOOM : 0.01 Any help would be great. This is all pretty foreign to us, just having some fun but would like it to work! Thanks

AH...sounds like you're running in the sim - the default pin for the device's locaiton is in Cupertiono CA, you can't control that (it's Apple Headquarters). So, the device is zooming to try to show the both pins locations so it's having to zoom super-far-out. If you run it on a device this won't happen. Also, your control panel should allow you to turn off the users location show it zooms only to the location you entered.

Ah ok cool yes sorry didn't mention we were still in the sim stage. Thanks for your help - one more thing though, when you say we could turn off the users location in the 'control panel', is this in the buzztouch control panel or xocde? Struggling to find anything in the buzztouch panel....thanks again!

In looking at your profile, it looks like you're not an Early Adopter. This means you're still using buzztouch v1.4 (this is OK). I was thinking you were working with buzztouch v1.5 because most folks have made the jump these days. v1.5 allows much more flexibility, including the turning off of the users location on the map. So, for v1.4 you can't easily do this in the control panel so I incorrectly advised it. This means you have two choices to turn-off the users location pin. a) Create a v1.5 app and tinker with that platform. Much advised. But, if you've done lots of work on v1.4 it's not easy (today) to make the switch. You'll end up re-creating your app. b) Hack a bit in your v1.4 project source-code after you download it. The hack is in one file and it's easy..... In your v1.4 app, find Screen_LocationMap folder > MapViewController.m file. This is the file that createst the map view controller. In this file, find line 84 where it does: self.mapView.showsUserLocation = YES; Change this to NO and the user location won't show.

Thanks alot David, really appreciate your help. Afraid we have done a bit of work in 1.4 so 1.5 might be off the cards for a while. All good though, cheers
