Android v1.5 understanding tab bar icons

Hi, reading posts on the forum but couldn't find... example: Android V1.5 Why is it that the config.txt says that the Bottom Tab Bar Layout icon filename is star.png yet it actually is calling the star_white.png...is this not something that is controlled in the theme tab layout setting? i'm probably just missing something simple here but have not figured it out...what the!! thanks :)

This is a good question. It's kind of a hack to try to help folks but can be confusing. Also, keep in mind that most people use the control panel to select images.... onward...There are two copies of each icon the BT_Images folder. Lets say house.png and house_white.png. For layout with dark background a black icon (house.png) would be super hard to see. White makes more sense. However, when you choose something in the control panel it doesn't show you a white verion and a black version (it should, and will eventually) so it just enters house.png in the box when you choose something. Next...the .java file that lays out the screen looks for a [icon name]_white.png file...if it exists is uses it ;-) As usual, hack around this all you want. in v1.5 Anroid it's only doing this in two places...the tab layout file and the menu list file. Search the project for _white

Thanks David, was just getting confused going between how IOS is using icons in the tabbed layout as opposed to Android...the same icon image doesn't work for both...was removing files from each source code to lighten the load and came across this...thanks again! Ps. When I added the _white.png tag to my custom made icons they now appear...all good thanks.
