Hi All, just started building an app for recipes and i'm using the V1.5 early adopter, when i downloaded the source code after uploading the icon, the icon did not show in the simulator after building and running, also the home screen does not show the menu lists i've added as well afterwards, is this because i have Xcode 4.3, this is the message i get in Xcode below : BT_fileManager: File does not exist in cached directory: appModified.txt 2011-09-22 07:02:21.723 internationalrecipes[878:13703] BT_fileManager: saveTextFileToCacheWithEncoding: appModified.txt encodingFlag: -1 2011-09-22 07:02:21.724 internationalrecipes[878:13703] internationalrecipes_appDelegate: appModified.txt does not exist in the cache. Not an issue with Xcode 4.3, it's a matter of figuring out what data is being read. Icon: Open the Xcode project and see if your icons are included in the BT_Images folder. You should see a Icon_57, Icon_72, Icon_114.png. If these are there, and they do not show up on the simulator. Do a Project Clean > Rebuild > Relaunch. Home Menu: Not sure what your referring to here. What happens when you use the Refresh Button on the home screen of the app while it's running in the simulator? It should show the home screen that you have setup in the online contorl panel.

Thanks David, tried the above, found the 3 icons you were talking about but still having the same issue, and i now have this errors, 'setStatusBarHidden:animated:' is deprecated (declared at /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator4.3.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/Headers/UIApplication.h:271) when i also refreshed the home screen, nothing happened, should i just start over with the app?

Something's crazy. I guess you could re-download the package and re-open the new one in Xcode. Havn't heard this before. Especially the set-status-bar-hidden deprecated message. Never seen that?

it sounds weird, i'm going to try and rebuild the app, do you think i should build the whole app before downloading the source code or should i just upload only the icon first like i did earlier and download the source code then continue building, i'm thinking the first option might work, it's worth a try i think

I've seen the deprecated notice before when compiling for later versions (like iOS 3). I would download the whole project again, do the clean and compile like David suggested, and have another go. Sometimes things just get woky. Mark

Two things where...first the icons. Yes, the icons should have a .png extention. That's how iOS requires them. Next, Refresh. The screen is not refreshing with the refesh button. Does this mean nothing happens? The log output you posted does not show anything about refreshing. This is the output that ran when the app first launched. Do this... a) Launch the app. OPen the console like you have. Good work here, glad you figured out the console. b) Use the CLEAR console so it's blank. At this point the app is still running but the console is empty. c) Tap Refresh. The console will show all the details about what happens when Refresh is tapped. This should give you some clues as to where it's getting it's data, reading, etc.

i tried to use the file with the .png extension but i'm getting this : Chose a .JPG image to upload. After uploading the image, you'll be asked to crop the image to a pre-determined size, 72 x 72. If the icon you upload is smaller than 72 x 72, this won't work. If the icon you upload is exactly 72 x 72 (because you created it in an image editor first), click it to select it then submit it. Only .JPG images are allowed. This message means you tried to upload an image that was not an acceptable format.

I misunderstood. I thought you meant in the Xcode project. Yes, the control panel expects a jpeg image. The file you upload will end with .jpeg or .jpg. When you download the project the icons included will have a .png extenstion. So...you upload a jpg, you get back a .png (three of them) in your download. Part of the behind the scenes auto-magically-app-package-builder thingy ;-)

Hi David, one step forward now :-) , The App is now refreshing when i add to it, it's just the icon need now to show as opposed to being just a black box :-) Thanks for your help

@Nasdaq12 - Did you save your icon as a png from a program or just change the extension to png? If you changed the extension, that's your problem because .png and .jpg are different file formats, and changing an extension will just confuse programs.

@Nasdaq12 - The same deal with downloading images. Just renaming it during the download won't actually change the file type. Files will need to be saved/exported as the file type you want. If you download a .jpg file and want it to be a .png, you'll need to open it in an image editor and save/export it as that different format type. Also, please double check that you are opening the most recent download of your project. If you're opening an older version in xcode the newer icon file won't display, even after a refresh.
