Driving Directions and Info in Location Maps

It seems there are 2 options when tapping a location on a map in BT v 1.5 for iOS - either driving directions or another screen. What I'm looking to do is functionality similar to what you would get in the native iOS maps application for a business listing. Basically when you tap on the location, you are presented with a screen that has the following information: Name, Phone #, address, and at the bottom a few options like Directions to here and Directions from here, Share location, etc. If anyone has an idea as to what would be the best way to go about making this type of screen or could point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hi johnny, When you tap a locaton on a map a small info box will appear with the location 'Title' (Usually a Business name, etc.) and the 'Sub-Title' (usually an address). Also if the option to 'do something' has been selected for the map item, as you mentioned, you have the option of opening up driving directions, or a buzztouch screen. If you choose a buzztouch screen then you can choose any of the screen types available in the control panel. So, you have tons of options for what you display. I would recommend spending some time becoming familiar with the different screen types like the Menu List, Custom HTML, etc. I think you'll find something that fits your needs. The Documentation is also a great source of information on all of the different screen types, and how they work.

I have been wondering the same thing! Is there a way to make both work? Meaning, the driving directions AND a link? I have been searching the forum and can't seam to find an answer, this thread is the closest I could find... Question to Parker, you say that you have the option of opening up driving directions or a buzz touch screen but all I see is the option of driving directions or a URL. If I could change the URL option to a buzz touch screen that would fix my problems!!! Thanks!

Hi Koppenhofer, You can chose any screen type as an option in a v1.5 app. You should see a link to become an early adopter in your control panel. Sign up and then Create a New v1.5 App.

I have a related question. I am populating the map with a file hosted on my server. When a specific location is tapped I see where I can specify a screen nickname to open.. However, I don't want to have to create a screen for each individual map point. I was hoping I could open a custom URL screen (for example) and pass to it a URL to use to open. That way I can control the URL from the same map file and make it different for each location on the map (or use a call-us action and pass the phone number that should be used). Hopefully, that makes sense..

Hi jgeiser, That makes sense. Have a look at the Documentation for a Location map and Child Items > Location Items. http://www.buzztouch.com/docs/v1.5/screen_map.php http://www.buzztouch.com/docs/v1.5/child_locationItems.php In the JSON for each of your child items you can set a Load Screen value. This will determine which screen is loaded for each map location item. You can either point to an existing screen in your project or build one with JSON. It sounds like you're interested in the latter.
