Some noob questions.

I'n a noob... I confess... With that being said I have the following questions..... Mostly design/performance issues. 1. Images - Is it better to use the URL approach or bring the image into the build? I'm noticing some lag and sometimes the image does not show up at all. I need to exit and start the app again... Is that normal when using URL's or may I have some other problem. The list box also does not appear... I need to kepp exiting or refreshing... 2. Sizes of pictures - what is the pixal size for a 10.1 inch screenlike the Motorola Xoom. Any good sites to size pictures correctly for viewing... and how does that effect other size tablet screens fro 7 to 10 inches screens. How do you make it so it works for all tablet sceens? Ya I know they noob questions

If the images are going to be static...meaning you won't want to change them...then absolutely best to bring the images into the build. BT does cache the images if you bring them in from a URL, but, still, my mantra is local is always better and faster. I would Google the size of pictures question. I did that for iPhone, and came up with tons of links. Mark

@gbakakos - noob questions are not a problem. We've all been there! I prefer to put my images into the project rather then link them with a url. Both seem to work fine, and with the way BT has designed the software, the images cache. But my preference is to include them in the code. Except for photo galleries. If I've got a lot of photos, it's better to link to them. I've had a lot of success using a flickr account and feed for my photo galleries. Picture size depends on what you want the image for. If it's a full screen image, like a splash screen or photo gallery, I try to size my images for the iPad dimensions of 1024x1024. They'll scale down fine for smaller displays while still looking good on the iPad. (I'm assuming the same is true with the various Android tablets and phones). For menu headers, on phones, I like to use 300x200 with slightly rounded corners (like a 10) if I'm using the rounded corner menus. If I'm using full width menus, I set my header images at 325 or 350 x 200. That takes them edge to edge. For tablet headers, I tend to stick with 768x400. Hope this helps.

MGoBlue, GoNorthWest, Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. I just got done adding the images to the build itself. just time consuming. Thanks again...

I have done both, the main thing i look for is it depends on the app's function...some apps you want to be as small as possible so the user downloads it super fast...i always look at the size of an app before i download...i was sending my brother test builds via testflightapps.com and he kept asking if i could make the initial download faster, so i put most images/icons online and because the app file size was smaller he thought it was great that it downloaded so quickly..regardless of the fact he still had to download content once the app was installed...so, my thought is that if lots of content in the app is online anyway then i put most of my images/icons online...and if most of the content is embedded in the app i try to keep as much images/icons/whatever in the app.
