PASSWORD PROTECTION FOR TABS

I am creating an Application for my company and need the application to be password protected. I currently have the layout set as a Tabbed Layout. Tab 1 is my Login Page. Tab 2 is the rest of the app. Is there a way to protect tab 2 within the password protection so that when someone is not logged in and they click on Tab 2, they get an error message telling them that they need to sign in? I know I can create passwords for each individual menu item, however can i do it for a whole tab instead?

I'm not sure if the password protection can be implemented as you are requesting without some code writing. I think the easiest thing to do would be to: A. Only have ONE tab, and have it be password protected containing your sub-menus and widgets. B. Have Tab1 be an info tab and Tab2 be the tab that is password protected containing your sub-menus and widgets. If there is no linking to other pages from your home page, people can't get to the screens without going through the password protection! :-) Hope this helps!!

well Your option B is what I am talking about with the exception that Tab 1 is the login screen. I already have it set up to where Tab 1 is the password screen but I can't find out how to password protect tab 2. I cannot have one tab as I need everything password protected. Right now the ony thing that seems to be password protected are the individual items on tab 2 instead of tab 2 itself like I want.

What if you make Tab1 an instructions screen and password protect Tab2?

What screen would load for tab2, tab3, tab4 if a user was not logged in? In other words, a message pops up that reads 'please log in' - something would have to display when the message went away. You'll have a hard time doing this the way you describe. However, you could.... Tab 1: Login screen Tab 2: A list of things that are password protected. A user that wasn't logged in could not access the items in the list without first logging in on tab 1.

I want tab 1 to be the login screen for sure. So what you are saying is that I am unable to make tab 2 protected with a password and that I would have to password protect every item on tab 2 instead? I figured that once the please log in message went away, they would still remain on tab 1 until they login

One other question regarding password protection. I am creating this app for my company only, however they want it password protected. One obsticle I am running across is that the employees using this app are frequently out of the 3g service area and therefore cannot use the internet. This means that they won't be able to log into the app, which make the app useless. Is there a way to not have the password protection depend on interet access? Can the techs login when they are in a service area and then when they are not in the service area, will they still have access to the app since they already logged in and didn't log out?
