Logo and Icons in android V1.5

Sorry for the noobish question but please bare with me as I'm not really a developer and i am defiantly not a programmer... So I understand that in order to place the logo in the splash screen and to get it to work (and I'm assuming just about any other picture in the app) you need to place it in the bt_image folder. But i can't seem to find that folder. I found the java file in eclipse, but don't know the syntax for displaying the image, or where it should go. I'm sure this is a very basic programming question, but I really have no background in program and am just teaching myself as I go along... Any help with how to do this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi MM2000, General images, like header images, should go in the res\drawable folder. If you have images that are associated with a Custom HTML page, then they need to go into the assets\BT_Docs folder along with your .html files. Hope this helps a bit! Mark

Have you read the readme file for your project. It includes the answers to your questions here. Very important to read the readme file. Here's the relevant info: /assets/BT_Docs - for documents, javascript and style sheets. Also, any images you use in HTML you include in your project must be in the BT_Docs folder /assets/BT_Video - you get it. /assets/BT_Audio - you get it. Images for screens that are NOT part of an HTML document go in the /res/drawable folder. Hope this helps.

Yes, this is one of the only things I know how to do, is place images in these folders (was modding roms with this). But do I need to write any of the code for the BT_image page, or will eclipse automatically build it?

Get the right images in those folders, and you'll be good to go!

@MM2000: If you launch your app and load an Image Gallery you'll see a message. I think you're trying to use a gallery. Galleries (and other screen types) are phase 2 deliverable. @ianjamespiano: That's a great question and something we hadn't considered. I don't think this will work on Android. It may, dunno. The sample.html file in the BT_Docs folder uses an image from the same folder, all good. Not sure how to get an image from that folder to your external URL web-page. Maybe do some digging online and see if this is possible?

I have a very basic question. My app in IOS works really well. Today I downloaded the code for Android and I am testing it. Do I need to rebuild the app? or is my app, that I created only when version 1.5 was for IOS, going to work in Android? Thanks M.

@MM2000 - According to the docs for Android you do NOT put your images in a BT_image folder. The docs clearly say 'Images for screens that are NOT part of an HTML document go in the /res/drawable folder.' This works. I'm testing my app now, and icons and header images are working fine. The only issue I had was naming conventions. I always use names like 'smith-header.jpg' and droid won't accept the '-'. I have to change to 'smith_header.jpg' But it works. Images need to go in the /res/drawable' folder.

I think I read somewhere that image urls aren't supported yet. Not sure, but I think so.

Has anyone succeeded in changing the background color? I went through the readme file but didnt see anything related to that. For my new apps I can build them having in mind that Android has a default black background but for my existing apps it will be a big pain to change all the graphics. Thanks!

Set the screen background color in your theme and it will be set in the app. I just tested changing the color in my theme, refreshed the 1.5 droid app and the new screen color was there. Haven't tested changing the menu items yet.

What is going to happen to the background color in Android if we have it set to stripes when using iOS? Also, it appears that background images are not working yet on Android. I'm assuming that is coming with Phase 2 or maybe 3? So far the app I have tested works in Android v1.5, but I noticed that when I go to a map view the markers show but the map does not. I have only tested this in the simulator as I only have iOS device at the moment. David - That is great news that we will be able to use a BT_Images folder that will allow more naming conventions. I currently have a couple of apps published that are using names like main-background.jpg and I was really worried about how I could update the image names to main_background.jpg without Breaking the currently published iOS apps. Thanks again for all of the hard work and I hope that one of these days soon you will allow for us to donate or at least send a Christmas gift or something....... :~) Thanks again. Wayne

So i'm trying to get images to work in Android and it's not working. I dragged and dropped the images into both the BT_images folder and BT_docs folder in Eclipse. The images are locally referenced (so they aren't a full URL) and they are being referenced from a Custom HTML / Text page in Buzztouch. Any idea why the images wouldn't show up in Android? They work just fine in iOS
