Bug Report v1.5 : Multiple Android Issues

Hi, First, a huge thanks to the Buzztouch team for all the incredibly hard work in getting Android code out to us! You guys rock! Second, I managed to sneak in a download while they were switching on the server, and before they blocked everybody out. Had code in hand at 11:21PM! Got my first app ever (first iPhone, and now first Android) compiled, but found some issues : * Using a tabbed screen layout, all tabs are in correct order, but am getting the same list screen for two of them (Daily Living and Prayers are showing same list). * There are no Back buttons (expected in upper left nav bar) when clicking on a Custom HTML screen. * I have a screen (Read More) that links to PDF files. If I click any of them, it brings up a Compose Email screen! Unable to read PDF, and I did move them to the correct folder. * Menu item that links to a Custom URL does not seem to work. Nothing happens when I click it. * Links within a Custom HTML page that link to Internet take forever to load. But that may just be my connection. That's it for now! Will play with this a bit more and see what I can fix myself. Thanks again Buzztouch! You guys are the best!

Make sure you read the Readme file well...contains some changes from v1.4...the biggest being the different Google API you have to use (2.2 8). There are also limitations on which app features are available to be built : Menu Lists Custom URL Screens Maps Setting Device Info Settings Allow GPS Login Screens Call Us Email Us Text US Share Email Share SMS

Reading the Readme file more closely (and carefully), it would appear that PDF files are not supported yet. So, ignore that item in the bug report!

Could be! You could try changing the screen to one of the types that is supported, and see what happens?

Yeah that wasn't it... It looks like it has something to do with my maps, but it is pretty late and i am thinking that this problem may be my lack of sleep and inability to do the simplest things. :-) so i'll take a crack at it in the morning

How do you get the google api? In my eclipse there is only 'google apis, android api X' there is no google api 2.x.x. and also no google maps library.

@tonycelestino : Just follow the Android SDK instructions for updating the APIs, and basically download everything. That should cover all your bases!

@GoNorthWest yeap, I figured it out... the Google 2.2 is actually part of the 'Google apis, Android api 8'. Thanks!

Android does not have an 'upper left' back button - the hardware has a back button. The context menu is also an important difference. Part of the challengne is avoiding the temptation to totally change the users expectations (Android iPhone are different) while also maintaining your own design, flavor, functions. So, Android, no back button. iOS, no menu button

@David - no doubt I still have some learning of the Android interface. Didn't realize there was no back button in an app, and that it was hardware. I did install the PDF plugin for Eclipse, so we'll see if that helps the issue. And I'[m going to be using LogCat to see why two tabs load the same screen.

LogCat tip. Increase the font size - it's super small by default. Eclipse > Preferences > Android > LogCat > ...adjust font.. You must restart eclipse to get the new size.

For what it's worth, the Eclipse PDF plug-in didn't help me at all...perhaps I'm using it incorrectly. But, to be specific, should reading PDFs be supported with this BT release?

Reading through the Readme file (was scanning it late last night), I came across this : While on your app's home screen (first tab on tabbed apps), use the device's Menu Button to show a context menu for the screen you're looking at. I did this on the first tab, and now it displays with the correct content! So, not sure if it's a bug or not that it didn't come up correctly the first time, but at least I know it works now. That resolves that issue I think! Now if I can get the PDF files to read, I can think about publishing the app!
