Using an existing Web

Hello Forum I'm new to buzztouch, looking to develop an iOS Iphone version of a social networking site we are building for mothers and their babies. We'd like to be able to offer a free application that will allow our members to take a stripped down version of the site on their iPhones - offering a couple of additional functionalities such as being able to search for child friendly venues / coffee houses / changing fcilities etc. In a nutshell, thy should be able to access the current site and its content, their profile, inbox, the forums, event listings etc plus the 'add ons' for the iPhone app. Please forgive me if this is a fairly straightforward question but what is the process for utilising data already stored elsewhere on a web through individual profiles and getting this to run on the application? How do I port their settings / updates from the web so they display on the app as a starting point? Basically the app would be a tool to access this information plus the add ons. I do hope this makes sense - any signposting as to where to begin would help Sincerely Steve p.s I've not included a link to the site as it is not live yet, it is in the final phase of development.

Hi Steve, Welcome! I see you are brand spanking new here, so the best advice I can offer is to spend a whole bunch of time going through the materials we provide. Click on the 'Help' link above and you'll see several helpful sections. I would start by watching all of the videos. From there I would spend a few hours going through the Documentation to see how each screen is made, how the update process works, and what data type the screens use when being built. After that the forums are full of information. Lot's of previous users have asked tons of questions on how to 'insert whatever you want to do here'. Just keep in mind that Apple can be kinda picky abut the apps they allow on the app store. A lot of apps have been rejected for being something that could just as easily exist via the web browser. So be sure to try and include some features that set your app apart from something that is basically just a mobile website. Not that those types of apps don't make it into the store, it really depends on which reviewer you get looking at your app. It's kinda frustrating, but that's how they roll.
