best way to show videos (iOS)

what is the best way to show video's in an app? I'm making an app that will have new video's added every other week or so, so incorporating into the app won't work. I tried linking to them on YouTube, but once played, you can't get back to the app without closing the youtube app and re-opening the main app. Has anyone come up with a better solution? many thanks in advance!

THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF IS TO USE A CUSTOME HTML PAGE AND EMBED THE VIDEOS. tHAT WAY YOU CAN JUST CHANGE THE EMBED LINK EACH WEEK. JUST RESIZE THE PLAYER! hOPE THIS HELPS

thanks, but that would then rely on our server, which might become overloaded – we want to utilize the power of youtube if we can.

THEN WHY NOT CREATE A YOUTUBE CHANNEL FOR YOUR APP, AND A TAB TO THAT LINKS TO THE YOUTUBE CHANNEL, THAT WAY ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS WOULD BE THERE.

yeah but I want the user to return to the app when the video's played – I've seen that on other apps. You click on the video button and it plays a youtube video then there's a back button that returns you to the app menu.

IN MY APPS I USE YOUTUBE PRETTY OFTEN, MOST OF MY CLIENTS ARE MUSICIANS! WHEN I CREATE COSTUME URL'S IN LIST FORMAT THE BACK BUTTON ON THE PHONE TAKES THE USER RIGHT BACK TO THE APP LIST OF VIDEOS! AT LEAST ON ANDROID IT DOES! EVEN IF I USE A CHANNEL WITH A LINK, THE BACK BUTTON ON THE DEVICE TAKES YOU BACK TO THE APP MENU, AS FAR AS PUTTING AN ACTUAL BACK BUTTON IN THE APP IS WAY BEYOND MY KNOWLEDGE!!! MAYBE SOMEONE WILL READ YOUR POST AND HAVE SOME PROFESSIONAL TIPS!

@COOKUP - Hey, thanks for the good advice. Just a heads up - using all caps in forum posts is the internet equivalent of yelling. It can bother some users. Not really a big deal, but it's a fairly common piece of internet etiquette so I figured I would share it with you. Thanks again for the help!

@basement: Not having a back button in iOS may seem problematic but users do expect this. Most of use are very familiar with double tapping the home button to reload the app we just left (to watch youtube in this case) to return to the menu of youtube videos you built. With that being said, I totally understand the issue - how to play YouTube Videos inside the app without leaving. You'll probably never be able to control this experience. Apple and YouTube are super finicky about 'where' you watch the content. In this case, they both want you to watch it in the native player, which is why it opens for youtube URL's. Anyway to get the content? If you can get the videos, toss them up on a DropBox account, then build a simple text file (also on DropBox) with JSON you can dynamically create the menu. Each menu item loads a BT_screen_streamingView screen that loads the video from the DropBox (free). I've done this lots, it's not too tough. Maybe have a look at the docs to see if you can understand how to create a JSON / text file to power your menu.
