Basic App idea, but my basic cerebral limitations are holding me back....

I think I am missing something here and thought someone might help me out. My app idea has to do with keys. In my work I am constantly signing out keys from different places. I try to keep track of them but sometimes things get muddled. My app idea is to have a key signout app on my phone. When I take a key out I enter the key number and the app automatically registers the time and place. When I am bringing the key back I load the app and it shows a list of the keys I have out. I select the one I am checking in and click one button. It logs the time and place as well as gives me the option of leaving a note for it (like who I gave the key to). That way the next time someone calls asking for key 32 I can say I turned that key in to Sally on Friday August 26 at 1:42 in the afternoon in her office instead of hmmm... let me check my keyring. Is this possible to develop with buzztouch? None of the App menus seem to lead to do what I want this thing to do. What am I missing? Thanks to anyone that is willing to help the FNG.

This could possibly be done by using custom Html or Url...maybe create a html form that allows you to sign the keys in and attach it to a web page... google search html codes and create a webpage that makes this all possible tie them all to the buzztouch app http://www.ysu.edu/reccenter/PDFs/Key%20Sign-out%20Sheet.pdf

Hi protech, Although what you are looking for is not a built in feature/screen, you could accomplish something like this through the use of a Custom HTML screen which communicates with .php files and a database. Or you could write your own objective-c or java code and modify your project how you see fit. Either way you'll need to do a bit of work outside of what buzztouch offers, but by using buzztouch you can save yourself the work of creating everything from scratch.

Maybe a big key-ring on the side of the phone with all the keys on it. That design would allow the phone to help you remember where they are. Kidding of course. You're idea is cool. I think I would start by assembling a series of 'dummy screens' to protoype how it may work. You could use the default buzztouch features to create a series of screens and 'flows' to iron out how it may work. Navigation, menu items, etc. Then, after your satisfied, figure out and adjust the screens that need to communicate with your backend. Just an idea.

This would be pretty simple to implement using a mySQL database and some pretty basic php. Essentially....key ID, whether it is in or out, and time status changed. Good idea!
