APK File Opens as a page of jumbled characters.

Friends, Hoping someone with an Android wouldn't mind hitting this apk file and letting me know where I might be going wrong. First app, so be gentle ;) http://www.timothyjdesmond.com/html_files/install.htm I exported as signed application package from Eclipse without any problems/errors and then uploaded the apk file to my server. Many thanks.

That's weird... Could it be some sort of restriction on your hosting? If you used ftp what mode are you using? Try binary mode. Have you tried uploading it elsewhere, like novamov.com for example, and seeing if it downloads/installs ok from there?

You may be right. I uploaded in binary but when I tried a different hosting account it worked. Thanks for the tip!

If it's an Apache web-server it probably does not know the mime-type of the .APK file without a tweak. See this (scroll down to Apache part). Happens all the time ;-) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3569313/cant-install-apk-hosted-my-own-apache-server
