Custom URL not working in some instances

I am having exactly the same problem as here (http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=B71BA0B897964E80BC80390&status=&searchInput=url&sortColumn=FT.dateStampUTC&sortUpDown=DESC¤tPage=1&doViews=1) there's just a page with boxes & red x in corners... So, I tried to replicate the above solution, but can't really work out the pattern (where did myCoolSearch come from? is just an arbitrary name?) I have force refresh on. URL =http://www.tec.tas.gov.au/index.html (this worked a week ago!!) I tried this -> http://www.tec.tas.gov.au/index.html&saveAsFileName=tec.html with no luck! I now get an error message that says - There was a problem saving some data to the devices cache? I also tried another page with another URL & it worked fine...> http://www.tec.tas.gov.au/myreps Is there any reason for this? the absence of .html in the URL maybe??? ????? Any ideas? Tanx

Hi Wendy, It looks like you are forgetting the '?'. Try this instead: http://www.tec.tas.gov.au/index.html?saveAsFileName=tec.html The question mark indicates the end of the URL and the beginning of additional instructions. The reason the '&' character was used in the linked forum page, is the saveAsFileName part was appended on to another instruction following a '?'. Basically the '&' character means to do something 'and' something else as well.

Thanks Parker! your explanation made perfect sense!! I got a not found on this server error message, though... I had a little think, & saw that the custom URLs that are working do not have .html in their URL, so I tried removing the .html & it worked!! Not that I have the slightest clue why it did!!! Eg: this didn't work - http://www.tec.tas.gov.au/pages/Education/index.html & this didn't work - http://www.tec.tas.gov.au/pages/Education/index.html?saveAsFileName=tec.html BUT this DID work - http://www.tec.tas.gov.au/pages/Education weird, huh?? Tanx again for the support!

The thing that's working for me is to use a link shortener service like tinyurl.com to create a new link. That seems to work fine in the custom url.
