Android not loading videos

Hey guys, I've been searching the forums for the solution to my problem, but have been unable to find it. I have a video I want to link to via a submenu. I've tried streaming video on all video formats and none of them will play. Error: Cannot play video - Sorry, this video cannot be played.. I've tried embedding it via Custom HTML and the video will not even show up.. I've messed around with video size settings, with only the same result. The video is around 2mb in size and I have about 15 to add to the app. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm using Android/Eclipse. Thanks in advance!

I believe the proper settings can vary from device to device. So do some research specific to a few devices and look for the common video encoding requirements. If the requirements differ, try encoding with the lower of the two, and see if it plays on both devices. For example: Here is a website that covers the settings for video to be displayed on a G1. http://mobile.jack-frost.co.uk/g1_video_encoding.php

Another tip....videos won't play in the Android simulator, make sure you testing on an actual device before you pull your hair out trying to track it down ;-)

A couple of things... If you haven't compressed the video right it won't play through a handset. If you need help I can help you with this if you want. I know how to tweak settings and whatnot. Look at bitsontherun.com. They have a freemium service (& pay as you use over a certain limit) that you can use. Upload a video to them. They will compress it in about 5 different ways. For the phone only choose the 480x270 option, it looks and plays great on the phone. If you choose the Streaming Video menu on BT then link to the video at bitsontherun it will play perfect on the phone (not the android simulator. Iphone simulator will work). You have to test it on both an actual iPhone & Android handset to see if it plays without stuttering. A way you can keep the cost down with BOR is to spread your videos over multiple accounts. Be sure to delete the videos that BOR compresses for you that you will not need as they are just taking up space and pushing you toward paying for the service. It's not like you need them anyway. Hope that helps a bit...

Thank you! It works perfectly from BOTR embedded, but I do not know where to find the URL for streaming. My issue with embedding it is, it shows partially on the screen and I have to manually rotate the screen to view the video. I would like the video to start out in full screen, once the submenu is open. EDIT: Got it to work via passthrough for a direct link. Thanks again!

If you click on the videos tab, then click on one of the videos it will take you to a page with the compressed videos. There's a little clipboard you click on to get the streaming link. In the manifest you change the Scree_video to screenOrientation=landscape. With double quotes around landscape.
