BT v1.5 | iOS | Location | How can I select a location on the map and have its lat lon passed to a server from my app ?

First a huge thanks to David, Parker and everyone else at BT for delivering this service to my computer. I am 2 weeks old here trying to get used to the way BT works. Its plain awesome! I have a need to select a certain point on the map which is close to my current location (like say I noticed a certain restaurant on my left at the last traffic junction I drove past), and have its latitude, longitude passed to my server with some text. How can I do this in BT 1.5 ? Thanks and keep up the great work. Manoj

Yeah...I would love to know how to do this as well! I would like to click on the Blue Pin that represents my current location, grab the lat/long along with a comment, and submit the info to a database. Slightly different than what @Manoj wants, but perhaps somebody can answer both?

Hello @Manoj, There was a really good discussion on this a while back, along with some handy code examples: http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=65181E4ADF97874B08E6D2B Around the middle of the forum page they talk about setting up a radius with the map results, based on your current location. Best Regards Brian-

Hi Brian Thanks for the help. I went through http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=65181E4ADF97874B08E6D2B more carefully. My problem is to move around the map on my screen (pan left or right or up or down) locate a point and get the lat lon of that point. The point is pretty close to where I am (say upto 1 mile) but it is not my current location. So I need to first locate that point on the map, and then select that point; append some text to the lat, lon and send it to my server. Any further help greatly appreciated. Best Regards Manoj

Hi Guys: It sounds like you're asking how to get the location on the map from a spot the user selected? Example: Map shows a few pins, user taps a location on the map that is not already pinned? If this is the case, you'll need to... a) Figure out where the user tapped. b) get the location data for that spot. Here's a good example of how to use a UIGestureRecognizer to get the location: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3959994/how-to-add-a-push-pin-to-a-mkmapviewios-when-touching/3960754#3960754 What you do with the data is an entirely different topic.
