IOS - Single Image Screen - How To

Hi In 1.4 I was able to upload and display a Single Image. This facility seems to have been removed in 1.5. Can anyone explain how I can do this in 1.5? I'm developing an app based on a pack of cards so would like to be able to have a menu that takes me to each individual card - hence this request for help. Looking forward to some great solutions :-)) John

There are two ways using the image gallery option in 1.5. You can host your image on a web server or a free service like dropbox. Then enter the url to your image in the buzztouch interface where it asks for the image url. The other way is to enter the name of the file where it says Image File Name. Don't use spaces in the file name. Download your source files and open in Xcode. Then drag the image into the BT_images folder within Xcode. When you compile the app, it will embed the image within the app.

It super easy in 1.5. Add a gallery and add only one image. Or you can take a HTML whit no text and add a image in ->Advanced Screen Properties -> background image.

Hi both Thanks for such quick responses:-)) MGoBlue - thanks for detail - if I were to use the ref to Dropbox for example, are the images cached in the app? Mackimack - thanks for the info re html :-) Is there a way to insert an image in a block of text? Thanks again both

Hi again Thanks for the advice, am testing both methods - they work fine, I guess I just have to choose :-)) Re images in HTML - as there doesn't seem to be a way to link when writing in plain text (there's no button to insert a link to an image) I switched over into source view and inserted one there, and that works fine. It would be easier to have the ability to insert from the text screen though :-)) Thanks again John

John, could you explain a bit more about using the HTML method? I have an image that is two screens in length (640x1920 resolution) that I'm trying to display using an HTML document. Setting it as the background image with all types of scrolling enabled won't let me scroll up and down, I assume because it's a background image and so the image is static. How do I link to the image stored in my BT_Images file from the HTML file? I'd rather not go through the web. I'm familiar with writing HTML but I'm not sure how exactly the directories work in xCode - what is the directory I should link to? Currently, my non-working HTML file reads: <html> <body> <img src=../BT_Images/Simple Map.png /> </body> </html> When I go to the screen in the simulator it states Data for the screen has not been downloaded. Please check your internet connection. Thanks, Nick

Hi Nick No expert here but have discovered that using a pdf screen rather than html/text with inserted graphics works well and is fast - and does not require internet access - give it a go and see if it works for you too. Re the back ground image, I think you are right. Re use of image on an html screen - I was referencing an image on Dropbox - hence needing internet access. I too would be interested in finding out how to reference images in BT_Images from within html docs - maybe we should post another topic? John

I believe if you put the images in the same folder as the HTML pages you just need to reference the file names. I haven't tried it, but think that's what I've read in other posts.

Hi Nick You wrote: <html> <body> <img src=../BT_Images/Simple Map.png /> </body> </html> After a few hours I discovered that, following MGoBlue's advice, put the image in BT_Images or wherever you like by adding them through Xcode. Then use the following: <html> <body> <img src=Simple Map.png> </body> </html> This should work fine for you Interested to know what happens :-)) John

John, I still can't get HTML working. I tried referencing the image several different ways, including putting the image in the same folder as the HTML file and using your suggested <img code. I kept getting the 'data for this screen could not be downloaded.. ' message. Saving the image as a PDF and adding a PDF screen worked fine. Thanks for your help John and MGoBlue!
