Thoughts on supported iOS levels?

Hi, Does anybody have any thoughts...based on experience or data...about which iOS levels we should compile our apps for? I would imagine that most people are running iOS 4.2 or later, but there are people running earlier levels (like my wife, who has the iPhone 3G). In order to create an app that can reach the most people, what would be the oldest level you would suggest? I realize that app functionality is a factor here (newer functions only supported on newer levels), but for a basic app, what would be the thought? Thanks! Mark

Very good question! I am using Xcode 3.2.6, and I am getting the famous code sign error. Of course, my first thought is that I am doing something wrong. :-) R.

GoNorthWest, I tried that tutorial this afternoon, and I did not get it. However, Jeff sent me another tutorial that he posted on the forum that I did not see it. I am going to try Jeff training tomorrow. I will keep you inform. Thanks, :-) R.

Hey Mark, I know it's been a few years since you posted this. I wonder where things are now re: what versions are being used. I've been shipping out with a minimum of 4.1, however, I know there are many iphone users that don't have this update - I'd be curious to find out what you're doing now.
