Creating Menu List/Search with ABC's Down Right Side?

Hi, You know how when you bring up your Contacts screen on your iPhone, there are the ABC's running down the right-hand side so can quickly jump to a particular section? I would find that to be extremely handy in a few of my menu list/search pages that have a lot of entries. Any way to do this in v1.5? And...is that an official name for that style? Could not find a reference to it online. Thanks! Mark

A B C..., as easy as 1 2 3... oh no, my age is showing! That's called an Index. It's not tough to include one if you're up for a project. For most folks, the tough part if figuring out the method that already exists that builds the list of searchable items to show. You'll probably want to create a new class to tinker with so you don't break the existing working classes.. a) Create a new class in BT_plugins folder, call it indexSearch.h, indexSearch.m b) Copy n paste all the code from BT_screen_menuSearch.h and .m files into your new file. c) At the top of indexSearch.h, .m, replace BT_screen_menuSearch with indexSearch (you overwrote the class name when you copy-pasted) At this point you have a plugin that works exactly like the search plugin. It's the same code with a different class name. d) Got to your contorl panel and create a temp. menu item to load your custom plugin. Point it to your indexSearch class file. Compile > Run. The menu item should load your custom file. So far so good. Now you can modify code in the new file without breaking anything. Get good at doing this, amazing things can be created using the plugin screen idea. To actually make the indexed list, see if you can figure this out: http://www.iphonedevcentral.com/indexed-uitableview-tutorial/

David@buzztouch: Have you created another version of these instructions since last fall? GoNorthWest shared the tutorial with me and for an 'app newbie' it's pretty confusing. Any guidance you can provide would be great!
