iAd banner visible only on iPad simulator screen

I might be doing something stupid, but in a few apps I developed using v1.5, where I have enabled iAd banners, I can see the banner and it tests ok in the iPad simulator version but cannot see ANY iAd banner for the same pages when I run the iPhone Simulator. Is there anything I need to define wrt screen dimensions? Thanks

You should not have to make any changes - both iPhone and iPad should show the banner. Hmm..does the output console show anything? The console may show a message or an error or something useful when it's running. Also, if the banner is showing but not ads are appearing, you won't be able to control this - Apple does ;-) I'm happy to get a look if you ... a) Post the name of the app as it appears in your cotnrol panel (the name exactly) b) Post the name of the screen(s) that are not showing the ads c) Post a 'it's OK for buzztouch to download my source-code for testing' I can get access to the project but not without your permission.

HI David, I don't yet have an iAd account so I am not seeing Ads, I am just focusing on whether I see the Test Banner. The same issue persists in all the Apps I am playing with at the moment. For example I get the following warning in the Debugger Console: for iPhone while Banner shows OK in IPad simulator. screenData_EDA09309F7F2359B47E4DB0.xml encoding: -1 2011-08-22 12:44:55.990 iprosfores[56793:13a03] ADBannerView: WARNING A banner view (0x71879b0) has an ad but may be obscured. This message is only printed once per banner view. If you want you to take a look at my App: I give Buzztouch permission to download my source-code for testing : Application: iProsfores (EA13781A89F3A488085F4B2CC) Take a look at screen EDA09309F7F2359B47E4DB0 (Test Banner Shows on iPad simulator not iPhone) Same for screen D141013BBCE8EFE7E4EE65 Thanks again, Michael

Hi. I downloaded your project and had a look. It was really hard to use the ID's to try to figure out what screens you were talking about. What language is this anyway! Awesome. So, I was able to see the test-banner add in my Xcode simulator with iPad and iPhone. Not sure why you could not. I've looked through all sorts of things to try to find an explanation and can't. All of the ad show/hide methods are in the BT_viewController.m class. Have a look at this file around line 167 and you'll see where it shows / hides the ad view based on whether or not an ad is available. You could also see this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4160010/is-it-a-problem-when-an-iad-may-be-obscured for a great explanation. Not sure what to advise? Could it be something related to the language? Doubt it because it works in iPad on your end. Stuck.

Thanks of your help Dave, I know you are too busy to be able to do this so I appreciate it! The application is in Greek (sorts through all the daily internet offers & specials (Groupon etc.) )for specific locations. I am puzzled since I am not doing anything fancy with custom code, and I have exactly the same issue with another 6 almost completed apps (which are in English, so no Language issue!) I am about to get my iAd account set up and see if that changes anything. Also would be interested to see what happens when it runs on the actual device. But if you can actually see the banners at your end, then it's probably ok. (using Xcode 3.2.6 on Lion BTW. Simulator v 4.3). Will do another check with the info you provided. I am also assuming the location (i.e. IP address of the user) has no effect on this. If you think of anything new or another user has similar issues let me know, Thanks again, Michael
