Maps Not Loading, though pinpoints are.

Hey Guys, I was wondering if anybody could help me with this - I have collected the maps API's, and inserted them into strings.xml, uncommented the java file, as it says in the tutorial - however when i choose the screen that the maps link is on, it loads the pinpoint locations on the map, but does not actually load the overlay/map background, meaning currently the pinpoints are just floating on a grid. If anybody has run into this before and found out why this occurs, it would be awesome if you could help. Thanks, Josh x

Does it matter that I dont have a debug key? because for some reason I cant find what the difference is in a debug key and where to get it.

No it doesn't matter If you are exporting the app as signed for distribution you need the 'Release' key, if you are exporting for testing you need the 'Debug' key This is a common error & easily fixed :-) Check your res > layout > screen_locationmap.xml Bet it says - android:apiKey=@string/googleMapsAPIKeyDebug when it should say - android:apiKey=@string/googleMapsAPIKeyRelease (or vice versa) [pointing to the wrong API key for the debug/signed version you have compiled] Correct that, recompile and all should be OK

I think I have it correct here is my .xml file <?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?> <RelativeLayout android:id=@+id/header xmlns:android=http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android android:layout_height=fill_parent android:layout_width=fill_parent android:background=#FFFFFF > <include layout=@layout/global_title_dark /> <LinearLayout android:id=@+id/myContent android:layout_height=fill_parent android:layout_width=fill_parent android:layout_marginTop=47dip android:orientation=vertical > <com.google.android.maps.MapView android:id=@+id/mapView android:layout_width=fill_parent android:layout_height=fill_parent android:clickable=true android:apiKey=@string/googleMapsAPIKeyRelease /> </LinearLayout> </RelativeLayout> I also have debug set to off in my androidmanifest.xml EDIT: Figured it out... The MD5 Hash that I used was wrong :-)
