help help App no longer works!!!

Yesterday I was working on my BT v1.5 App and then we had a power cut. Today I did a few small edits on buzztouch then opened up XCode to add some files to BT Docs: Now my app is failing I get There was a problem parsing some configuration data. Please make sure that it is well-formed My App has lost backgrounds, images etc and none of the menu items work. Please advice - do I have to start from scratch again, I hope not!!

Hmmm.... Start here to see if it helps... a) Copy the contents of BT_appConfig.txt from the Xcode project here: http://jsonlint.com/ b) Do the same thing with the data that shows when you Show Configuration Data in your contorl panel's core settings. This may help figure out where it's going wrong.

I get some data got corrupted due to the power cut which meant a suddon loss of internet and power.

Furtther question: If I get the configuration data sorted can I copy this and implement it directly in XCode, as in is this the source code for my app?

Yeah, the config data in the Xcode project runs the app until the Refresh button is used. If you remove the dataURL value (near the top) in the config data the Refresh button will not show and the app will not sync with the buzztouch server (where the corrupt data is). But, it maybe be easier than you think to find the corrupted text. I'm thining it's related to one screen you were workign with. Identifying that screen, and removing it could clear up the whole issue. Look in the validator around line 408, can you figure out what screen this is? Is so, remove the thing...re-fetch the data from the Show Configuration Data and see if it validates.

OK removed the last few screens and functions then tested the configuration file - now Valid! Thanks, will see if it it now runs in Xcode/Simulator etc. What i was trying to do was create a screen with a PDF file from a URL that could be saved to (Opened In) iBooks. I don't want to use the view in Safari as I want the link to remain private as it is a document for sale outside of the app and this version would be part of the app package/price.

Whoo hoo. iBooks is tough...a few questions about it in the past and it's just a bear without some major kung fun. I pulled it off awhile ago but remember pounding my fists in frustration. Dropbox should be easy. Use the public drop box URL and enter it in the control panel. The link will remain private if you don't use the open in Safari choice (like you realize).

so you managed to link a file so it opens in iBooks - I would love mine to work like that. What I want to is have a file that can be saved to a pc in the app. My app is basically an eBook with lots of extras in the App. I have a PC version (PDF) that can be used on a pc that I would like customers to get too. I want the link to be invisible as the PDF file is secure so it can't be copied etc so I don't want the file to be available to anyone unless they buy my app. Thanks again for your help. (PS are you THE David from Buzztouch)
