JanRain Engago for iPhone and Buzztouch!

Hi there, I have a challenge for the brave members of the Buzztouch community... Who can try and find a way to integrate Janrain Engage for iPhone into a Buzztouch project?! (and post a tutorial about it, of course). I will take a look and try that myself but I think that will be something a little too much for my current coding skills. If anyone accepts the challenge please reply to this post. More info about Janrain and there iPhone API: http://www.janrain.com/products/engage/mobile

Bump this in a few days if nobody replied. I'll see what the Janrain thing is and see what it would take to include it in a BT project.

Sure thing David. I'm trying to add Push Notifications on my app right now (following Ian's tutorial) when I'm done with that I'll go ahead and try implementing Janrain.

@Ian I just read most of the Janrain documentation on implementing its iPhone SDK into a project. And its out of my current coding capabilities to work with this, but I gotta say that it sounds very simple and straightforward to someone with some coding skills. I would be more than willing to help execute this project with someone more experienced than I. Are you up for it or do you know someone that could help us? Let me explain to the rest of the forum members what Janrain is and what it could do to a Buzztouch project: Janrain Engage is a powerful Sign-in (user management) and Social Sharing tool, and its Free (http://www.janrain.com). With Janrain you can provide your visitors(users) with a very simple way to login/register with your app (the user can choose Facebook, Twitter, Google, LinkedIN...). With this SDK/API we could implement a much more sophisticated sharing method, for example, sharing individual posts in a RSS feed, an individual HTML/URL page, maybe even Images and videos, in addition to the App sharing option provided by Buzztouch. I've been using Janrain apps on websites for a while and they are very simple to configure and even simpler to use. They provide a complete set of documents to help implementing Janrain for iPhone and Android: https://rpxnow.com/docs/iphone https://rpxnow.com/docs/iphone_api/index.html They have published two Apps to the iPhone App Store, one demo of the Sign-in and other for the Sharing (Publish): http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/janrain-inc/id375197513 @David I know you're very busy lately, but could you please just take a quick look in their Quick Start Guide (https://rpxnow.com/docs/iphone#quick) and tell us if it's or isn't possible doing with Buzztouch? Because if its possible I'm sure more people will be interested in this and together we could come up with a solution. Thank you all!

Without looking I can say it is possible - everything is. It's a matter of understanding how to add libraries to your project and where to connect things. Almost all third party libraries are added to Xcode and then connected in the app's delegate file. From that point it'll take some tinkering. We have a very long list of third party vendors that create all sorts of neat tools. UrbanAirShip, Janrain, on and on.... it's hard to know which are best and what folks are already using. They all look very imporessive. Amazing little eco-system coming out of this mobile stuff eh! So...when we get the new forum up (been working hard on it) it has a category specifically for discussions about integrating third party libraries...that will be a good start to helping I think. Lastly...I'll see if I can dig around some of their guides later this evening and re-post. Can't be that tough ;-)

As far as I can see though, it's only the basic and very limited package that's free? Up to 2500 users a year? That limit can easily be achieved in a week. http://www.janrain.com/products/engage/pricing
