Comment on Buzztouch possibly having a paid service

I put this on the forum to voice a viewpoint on a service that has been life changing. I have given myself 3 months to pursue developing apps as a career and this would not of been possible in the time frame without Buzztouch. It is great to part of an evolving service with a brilliant community. Every query I have had has been solved either by buzztouch or a community member sometimes within an hour! I haven't looked at the Java book I have bought feared 2 months ago. I know that BT have not made any decisions on monetizing the service, doing the survey just got me thinking on it. I would happily pay for this service, and understand that in the future BT deserves to derive a financial return of this service. I would advise that BT keep a free lite' version to show people how easy it is to write an app via the system. Also I think an educational discount would help innovative teachers. Coming from a Science teacher background I could see students supplementing revision via quick app quizzes. This is my views I would be interested in other community members viewpoints

Totally agree with you. I think if a paid service is coming, also a lite version will be available. The question is, what will be the benefits of the paid service. I'm willing to pay for a paid service, but I agree that a lite version should be there also to courage new developers.

To me also its a question of loyalty, the web has created transient and at times grabby environments. BT is the first community site I have been involved in that benefits all. Its great to hear when a user creates an app, and I check the forum not just to get help but give it, and find that the problem is solved way before I can offer any input. Picking up a mac and moving to 1.5 shows the progression of the system and I cant wait till it comes to android. I think if BT can get its early adopters to feel part of the company, it will have a fresher business model than most web businesses.

I was looking for a donation button yesterday. =P I believe this service should be paid, not expensive, but it should be paid. There are lots of possibilities for the paid service. Maybe even more than one package, including one with limited features, for free of course. I think you should take a look at the Appcelerator model, they have three (or four) different membership options, including one for free. I'm not sure, but I would say that one of the most appreciated features for the paid membership would be the white-label control panel and the professional support. With a fair price (and a bit more of exclusive features), I would definitely pay for that.

i think this BT Forum is where tons of the value is...there are a lot of app making websites out there now with free and paid programs but none that i have seen have such an interactive forum...Also, i believe David and Buzztouch are very forward thinking so i have no doubt if BT becomes a paid service it will be worth every penny..cheers!!

From what I understand of Buzztouch, I haven't heard, at any point, them changing the service that we have come to love... Please, correct me if I am wrong, but at every turn, when I hear about Buzztouch developing a paid service, it has ALWAYS been in reference to: Business, Enterprise, or Professional use. I am one of those individuals who is accomplishing things in a week, that i assumed would take a year... (and for this, I love you Buzztouch) I refused to use any paid service, because its extremely difficult to gauge its usefulness at each point, and if Buzztouch weren't free of charge, Myself (and several hundred others) would have never used this service. So, if at any point they do decide to charge, now that I understand the scope of what they offer at each step on the path to creating a useful app, I would gladly pay them a subscription fee to use this service, I also plan to purchase an enterprise release of this service when its offered... So if buzz touch ever offers an enterprise version, i want it, but... I would never want to stop using the buzz touch that i am using now, even if I offer something different to my clients. I own an IT company, and would love this type of implementation for my company. I believe that buzz touch deserves every penny from the users that they have said they would like to charge. But as the original poster had mentioned, the value of this as a free, community centered, learning tool should never be overlooked or underestimated.
